The race to save Lulu sprints to the finish line as Sam (Kelly Monaco) spends some moments with her loved ones before Lucas (Van Hansis) takes his sister into surgery. Both Sam's family and Lulu's family gather at the hospital on pins and needles, hoping Lulu's life can finally be saved.

Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Scout (Cosette Abinante) visit Sam in her hospital room before she is wheeled into the OR. Scout has been terrified for her mother since the moment she heard that Sam would be Lulu's liver donor. Both Alexis and Sam assure the little girl that Sam's part of the surgery is the easiest, and she's going to be just fine — or at least that is what they believe.

Ric delivers major news

Heather (Alley Mills) is absolutely stunned when Ric (Rick Hearst) visits her in Pentonville to tell her the judge ruled in her favor and she will be released from prison that day. She didn't think it would ever happen, but now she will get to be a grandmother to Ace, which is all she's wanted.

Heather might be in for yet another surprise when her son, Steven Lars (Scott Reeves), returns to Port Charles. He just finished his own prison stint and had settled in Sedona, but now he returns to the town where he was born. It will be a welcome surprise for Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and a second gift for Heather.

However, Heather might want to watch her back because Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Portia (Brook Kerr) develop a plan to drive Heather away from Port Charles — and away from Trina (Tabyana Ali).

Sonny has questions

After his encounter with Holly (Emma Samms), Sonny (Maurice Benard) summons Jason (Steve Burton) to his office to ask him what really happened in Africa. He doesn't trust Holly at all and is not sure he should get wrapped up in her diamond fencing business.

Jason now knows Sidwell (Carlo Rota) is out there. Will he warn Sonny to steer as clear of Holly as possible before the real diamond owner catches up with them?

Sonny isn't the only one concerned about Holly and Sidwell. Brennan (Charles Mesure) is on the case and has a warning for Carly (Laura Wright).
