Scarlett Spears stays busy when she’s not playing the precocious little girl Donna Corinthos on General Hospital.
The young actor’s latest project is available for fans to view now. And it’s a big one, as she appears in the new film Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado.
The movie, a live-action adventure based on the long-running popular animated series Dora the Explorer, is now airing on Nickelodeon and streaming on Paramount+.
General Hospital actress plays Dora as a little girl
In the film, Dora is a teenager, and Spears plays her as a little girl in flashback scenes. According to IMDB and the film’s trailer, Dora and her friends brave the Amazon jungle in search of an ancient treasure that grants a magical wish.
The movie was filmed in Colombia in August, 2024, and is the second live-action film in the series, albeit with a different cast.
Leading up to the release of the film, Scarlett Spears’s mother, Sharline, shared several posts to Scarlett’s Instagram account this week with behind-the-scenes content. In one post July 3, she wrote a long letter of thanks to people involved in the production, including Samantha Lorraine, who plays Dora. She posted photos of Scarlett and Lorraine together.
In the thank-you post, Sharline wrote to Lorraine “You made this movie!!!! You are a star, baby! Scarlett looks up to you, and we are so incredibly honored she was able to play the younger version of Dora.”
Lorraine commented on the post: “Aww this is the sweetest. Scarlett did such an incredible job!”
Tiago Martinez, who worked with Scarlett on the film as the younger version of Dora’s cousin, Diego, commented: “Best friends forever indeed, and our families bonded for life. Can’t wait for the next adventure together!”
Sharline Spears wrote that Scarlett lost two front teeth after booking the role, thanking director Alberto Belli for adjusting to that and believing in her. She added, “You challenged her, and believed in her, and we are so honored to be a part of this beautiful film!!!”
Also in the thank-you post, Sharline wrote: “Scarlett had so much fun on set: meeting new people, forming new friendships. Our time in the jungle came and went, but the memories made will always remain… We are deeply humbled and honored, and we can only pray for more opportunities to come!”
In another post, Sharline showed a clip of Scarlett getting her hair cut to match Dora’s iconic shorter style.
Scarlett Spears made her first big splash onscreen throwing a tantrum with P!NK in her video for “Never Gonna Not Dance Again.” She has played Donna, the youngest daughter of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) on General Hospital since 2022.
