Former General Hospital actor Jeffery Vincent Parise recently completed a new film project.

Parise, who played Carlos Rivera and his twin brother Joe on General Hospital, spent two months in Brazil acting in a feature film that he described as a political thriller that will be in theaters this year.

He shared a post on his Instagram account from São Paulo, Brazil, showing pictures and videos of the scenery and behind-the-scenes moments from the production. Included was a shot with him and the director Cyrus Nowrasteh.

He captioned the post, in part: “The experience was all of the reasons I wanted to become an actor. To play different people from different (lives), to travel to places I’ve never been, to have adventures in those places when not shooting, to be paid to do what I love, to work with actors I admire, and to work with legendary directors. This had all of that. I am so grateful to the people of Brazil who treated me like their own. Especially the Brazilian crew!! Such genuine, kind, and generous souls! To the beautiful animals and nature I got to admire.”

Parise also thanks his managers and agents in his post, “for fighting the good fight and your continued faith in me! This was just one of the many dreamlike things that happened this year.”

Several fans showed their love for his new project. The Instagram user rozilove_lp said, “Brazil has a warm and humane people...you are always welcome to our wonderful country. The user jusmearmy added, “Can’t wait to see the final product. Looks like an adventure to shoot!”

Cyrus Nowrasteh has helped create and produce several notable films that focus on historical moments and intrigue. His biggest film was The Stoning of Soraya M., which won several awards. He has been part of movies such as The Day Reagan Was Shot, The Young Messiah, and the current film Sarah’s Oil with Zachary Levi, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Garret Dillahunt. He is also a producer of the current reboot series of Hawaii Five-O.

Parise played Carlos Rivera on General Hospital from 2013 to 2016, and also briefly played Dr. Joe Rivera, a twin brother. Carlos was killed in 2016, but Joe is still in the General Hospital universe with Teddy Rivera, the son Carlos had with Sabrina Santiago (Teresa Castillo). Parise has been nominated twice for a Daytime Emmy, once for playing Carlos and once for playing short-term baddie Simon Black on The Young and the Restless.

Parise has been promoting other new projects. Parise has been painting for decades. His current art project is covering up some of his old paintings with black paint that simulates shadows. He has been sharing some of that on his Instagram lately.

The former General Hospital star described the philosophy of tweaking old paintings in one of his posts. “It’s never too late to breathe new life into yourself and your art. Like many shapes in these paintings, I view time as circular. And it just may be possible to step off the circle and make your past your future and your future your past.

He also has a five-track album out on vinyl, called “An Ode to a Roach.” The EP was inspired by a pet roach he used to have. Two tracks are available on streaming, and the vinyl is available on his website.
