On the heels of her recently being recast for a few episodes, Kristen Storms has taken to social media to announce that she's taking an extended leave from General Hospital. The actress is also sharing why she's going away, where she is moving to, and when she'll be back!

Checking out of General Hospital

"Hi, guys," Storms began her social media video. "First, I meant to post this video a few weeks ago, but time just got away from me."

The actress is now letting her supporters know that she is taking a break from her role as Maxie on GH so she can move from California to Tennessee. "In March, I asked Frank Valentini, our amazing executive producer, [about a leave]," Storms shared. "I had a conversation with him about my reason for wanting to move and my desire to not leave the show."

Storms may have held her breath until she received the okay from her boss. It's not living in the Los Angeles area (where most soaps shoot) that is the likely issue. It's the time off. "When you approach a job like this, they can always be like, 'Forget it! We'll let you out of your contract if you're going to leave the state.'"

Fortunately, working at GH is not like working at most places! "GH did not do that," Storms hastens to add, "which was kind of amazing because I also asked for some time off. The week before last week, I had my final taping day for the year."

Well, maybe. Storrms adds that she might be back in either November or December. She did not clarify whether that meant taping or airing. "I promise you," she added, "the storyline they have going on until my return to Port Charles is kind of [incredible]. I can't wait to see the comments online about that."

Storms could be referring to the return of Kelly Thiebaud, who played Maxie's sister-in-law, Britt. Hmmm... However, there's been no confirmation that that's who Thiebaud will be playing upon her return.

The actress is filled with gratitude for her bosses for giving her the time to relocate. "I really want to thank General Hospital, the ABC network executives, and the writers for agreeing to let me take this time," she says. "I know Frank and the producers there know my reasons, and I am so grateful that they understand and are supportive."

Storms promises to update her supporters in the future, and she urged them not to believe everything they read about her. "Take it with a grain of salt," she cautions. "People like to say a whole bunch of stuff."
