Murder most foul, but let's do some yoga: General Hospital Two Scoops for the week of September 23, 2024

Willow and Drew on General Hospital
Willow and Drew on General Hospital

General Hospital is now presenting fans with a straightforward murder case with a whole lot of "eww" and quite a few head-scratchers.

Anything goes at a murder scene

Drew and Willow at the scene of a murder
Drew and Willow at the scene of a murder

First, why is a murder scene now a recreation scene just days after said murder took place? It's bad enough that James nearly drowned outside the Quartermaine boathouse this summer, but Sonny shot John in cold blood in the same spot. In the few days since (in Port Charles time), Sasha threw a lovely brunch for Cody and his new family. The next day, Willow used the spot for her morning yoga workout.

Shouldn't there still be police tape and a chalk outline of a body, considering how recently the murder took place? Even if the police finished their entire investigation in record time, who would want to break bread and exercise in the same spot where someone just shot an unarmed man? By the end of the week, Lois pointed out that the boathouse was still a crime scene, but she didn't explain why people were using that crime scene for recreation.

Like father, like daughter?

Kristina's grief overshadows Molly's
Kristina's grief overshadows Molly's

Speaking of the person who shot an unarmed man, it seems that Sonny's self-awareness is now completely nonexistent. We are also supposed to sympathize with him and hope he doesn't get caught. We watched Sonny shoot John in cold blood. Sure, John wasn't a sympathetic character by the time Sonny shot him, but that didn't mean he deserved to be killed.

Are we supposed to see Sonny as noble when he vows that Alexis will not end up behind bars for life, but he still refuses to confess? Are we supposed to praise him because he hired Marty to be Alexis' lawyer, since he stole her usual attorney to represent him in the same case? Were we supposed to say "awww" when Michael and Sonny bonded over Michael choosing to help Sonny cover up his crime without blinking an eye? Is that supposed to make sense when Michael spent well over a year trying to put his criminal father in jail?

The only way Sonny can redeem himself at this point is if he fesses up. Instead, hearing Sonny announce that Kristina should know that her father is there for her mother falls flat. Sonny could be there for his daughter's mother by telling the authorities that he killed John, so Alexis could walk free.

Perhaps Sonny passed down his lack of self-awareness to Kristina. She once again spent the week focusing on her feelings while completely ignoring Molly's. Never mind that she can't stop using the name Adela when referring to the baby she was carrying for Molly and T.J. Kristina knows that the baby's legal name is Irene, but she just doesn't care. As Molly pointed out, Kristina hadn't even asked how T.J. was doing, when he also lost his biological child.

Ewww Drew

Drew and Nina at the Savoy
Drew and Nina at the Savoy

But back to the murder scene...er...we mean boathouse. Not only did Willow get in a workout where a man was just shot dead, but she was there with congressional candidate Drew. We even got the obligatory damsel in distress tripping over her own two feet into a waiting man's arms routine.

Unfortunately, Drew is becoming creepier than ever as he makes sure to be shirtless almost any time he encounters Willow on the Quartermaine grounds. If he sees Willow in public at places like the Savoy, Drew just chases the poor woman down as she tries to get away.

Willow and Drew's ick factor is almost off the charts, as Drew seems to feel absolutely no shame in kissing Willow and then sleeping with her mother, Nina. Just another day in the life of a politician in America?

A little bit Alexis, a lot of jail

Alexis is back in Pentonville
Alexis is back in Pentonville

Alexis might not be recording songs about herself like Alexis Rose on Schitt's Creek, but she does have multiple murders on her record now. While her family members twist themselves into knots, trying to figure out how to clear her name, Alexis is back in the slammer with Heather Webber as her cellmate. While it doesn't make sense that a serial killer would be in general lockup, we'll suspend our disbelief for the comic relief that's sure to come.

Speaking of Heather, who wants to bet that Portia did a little fancy editing with those blood test results to make it appear that Heather didn't have cobalt poisoning, after all? We wouldn't put it past her.

Out of Africa

Lucky imagined seeing Elizabeth
Lucky imagined seeing Elizabeth

Lucky is still in Africa in need of a good shower, but at least Jason and Anna are there now, ready for a rescue. But...um...where the heck are Laura and Kevin? They had a several-week head start and are nowhere to be seen. It doesn't even look like Anna and Jason seem to care that their Port Charles counterparts are MIA. After Anna, Laura, and Holly beat the bad guys in Greenland last year (Drew had nothing to do with it, as Holly saved Liesl), we were looking forward to seeing GH's original action heroines at it again in Africa. But alas, it's just Holly and Anna on the scene.

As of Friday, Holly and Anna seemed as inept as Drew was in Greenland when they allowed one of Sidwell's men to overhear their conversation.

At least Jason is more interesting with Anna than he is with Carly and Sonny. Working with Anna takes Jason out of his mobster element. Could there be romance on the way for Jason and Anna? Hopefully...not.

Final thoughts

Lois needs her accent back
Lois needs her accent back

Lois isn't Lois without the Brooklyn accent, and there is nothing wrong with a Brooklyn accent. This writer even has one, so why can't Lois? Heck, Olivia and Brook Lynn have Brooklyn accents, so again, WHY CAN'T LOIS???? At least Ned knows Lois isn't an Eliza Doolittle needing lessons from Henry Higgins, so can Lois just be Lois again?

It's been glorious watching Elizabeth be Elizabeth again. She has that sly smile, she has her backbone, and she has chemistry with Ric. Of course, she also has chemistry with Jason, so it's like an embarrassment of riches. Lucky was even hallucinating Elizabeth in his African prison, so we know what's coming when he returns to Port Charles. We also dread it because the Lucky and Liz ship sailed years ago.

Any scene with Jane Elliot's Tracy is a good scene, but Tracy crushing on Cody and taking her life's frustrations out on Sasha is ungood. Hopefully, we've seen enough of that for now. However, we wouldn't mind seeing Tracy react to Carly and Sonny's sex life. Anything for a good laugh in ol' Port Chuck.

Catch all-new episodes of General Hospital weekdays on ABC and Hulu.

I do not really comment on soap sites because it seems sort of silly with all the real problems we are facing. But to-day I had to. Dan Knoll must be rolling over in his grave with how his site is now being run. I hope his family knows how much we appreciated his work. This 2scoops reads like everything else on this site now. Un-professional, un-inspired, and un-interesting. Every thing is just thrown together with out concern for accuracy. The site is also 💩 to find any thing. The writer of this 2scoops article did not even think to introduce herself to readers. That seems dis-respectful. It was a missed chance to earn good-will. But it probably is not easy telling readers you killed every site you worked on before. I do not see reading this now that Tammie and Liz are gone. The new Young&Restless writer is terrible too. Glad Tony and Laurissa are still here.

@k.lasotaSo that's what happened. I thought he has just retired and had his next in command take over. Why whoever took over didn't just keep Dan's easier to get through format I don't understand. Also don't understand why there doesn't seem to be a "delete" or "edit" button like before. And why don't they just make the comment section full page. Do like the idea that you don't have to "sign in" anymore but that anyone can just make a comment but be careful as with no edit button you have to be more careful about your spelling and what thoughts you want to express.

When Lucky first returned, I posted that I would've preferred if the first time we, or any of the other characters laid eyes on him, that he would be gambling in an exotic casino, much like the way James Bond was introduced in Dr No (1962). Instead of wasting all that time watching him play poker with Sidwell in a prison cell, we could've seen them squaring off in the casino. Another in a long line of missed opportunities on this show. I did enjoy the way Jason's icy stare seemed to intimidate Sidwell, but he's not evil enough as a villain to make me think he'd be much of a challenge for Lucky, much less Jason. *** I guess Lucky's gotten over the fact that Elizabeth broke his heart when she cheated on him with his brother, Nikolas, while they were engaged to be married! I always thought that the reason why he left town to travel the world after that was because he couldn't look at her without all the resentment and anger coming back every time, like picking at an open wound. He knew his son, Aiden needed his mother, and Lucky didn't want his own toxic relationship with Elizabeth to affect the way Aiden saw her, so in order to avoid that, and for the sake of his own mental health, he left the country to go "save the World," just like his old man. It's not a good excuse for all but abandoning his son, but it IS an understandable reason why he did it. Judging by his concussion driven conversation with FigmentLiz, Lucky has apparently been feeling guilty about leaving for quite some time, and he seems to have gone back to seeing Elizabeth as some kind of "paragon of virtue" which was one of the biggest problems in their relationship to begin with. Elizabeth isn't some idealized symbol of Perfection in Womanhood to be placed on a pedestal, and worshiped from afar; she's just a normal - although exquisitely beautiful - flesh and blood woman, complete with the same wants, needs, desires, and yes, faults that we ALL have. FigmentLiz wouldn't admit it, but the REAL Elizabeth would, or at least SHOULD admit that her own mistakes played a big part in why Lucky left, and why he's stayed away for so long. Of course, I blame Nikolas most of all, for seducing his brother's fiance, which is about as sick as it gets! That's almost as bad as having sex with his son's teenage girlfriend, which is just ANOTHER reason why I'm glad he's rotting away in a cell somewhere out of state, out of sight, and out of mind! At least when Lucky went away, he didn't pretend to be dead, or let his son grieve and mourn him for years!

I agree that this new 2 scoops was awfully short and not very chatty. But she was right about a lot of the points she made. I am going to try to allow for a learning curve, at least for a few weeks. Maybe this new writer does not understand what a demanding and articulate group we are here. I also watch Days and that is much worse on this site. They rarely post a scoop for the next week and the 2 Scoops is often quite late. Only a few posts appear on it. I am amazed that Sasha put on a party at a murder site. And that Willow does her Zen thing there. It is a huge estate. There must be a lovely garden or patio somewhere. I usually love Alexis, but she is so stupid now. Why didn't she just put the gun in her bedroom or in a laundry hamper to hide it until she could talk with Kristina? And Sonny is beyond terrible. I have no sympathy for him. I am glad some of ya'll are still here this week. By the way, I am actually Ruthie. It made me sign in differently. I will try to correct that. Oh, and apologies to Laurisa, who writes the 2 scoops for Days. She wrote a really good column this week, and on time.

I thought Lois was WAY out of line, trying to get Ned to accept Sonny as part of the Qs "extended family." We keep hearing on this show that, after a death, or some other traumatic experience, that everyone is entitled to feel however they WANT to feel about it, without having to justify, or apologize for those feelings, but apparently, that doesn't apply to Ned, who refuses to join the cult of Sonny apologists, who never hold the Dimpled Don accountable for all the horrific things he does. It seems that only Tracy and Ned see Sonny for who he REALLY is - a cheap thug in an expensive suit, who murdered his way to the top of the local crime family, and who continues to kill, and flaunt the Law with impunity, while posing as a loving father, and a generous philanthropist. Ned, however, remembers that Sonny MURDERED his cousin, AJ in cold blood, and got away with it, and he sees that history is now repeating itself, suspecting that Sonny is responsible for the murder of Jagger, a Federal Agent, on the Quartermaine property, and that Michael, and his mother, Carly are helping Sonny get away with it AGAIN! Ned and AJ were never close, mainly because Edward constantly pitted them against one another to toughen them both up, but as we've been told a million times, while the Q's unique family dynamic is to fight and argue amongst themselves, and try to undermine each other, their loyalty to the family is unquestioned when they face an outside threat. That's why Ned will neither forget, nor forgive Sonny for killing his cousin AJ, Michael's REAL father, and why he is so upset now that Michael is allowing Sonny to involve their family in the coverup of another murder, potentially making them ALL complicit in a crime they had NOTHING to do with! If I were Ned, I'd be furious too! I'd also be VERY disappointed in Lois for not understanding that. Lois even had the nerve to suggest to Gio that Ned and Sonny are more alike than either of them would care to admit, which is a REAL insult to her ex-husband! Ned and Sonny may both be stubborn to a fault, and perhaps overconfident in their own abilities, but the HUGE difference is, Ned doesn't go around beating people who annoy him to a pulp, or pumping bullets into anyone he sees as an enemy! The fact that Sonny - a career criminal, and a cold blooded murderer - is the so-called "Star" of the show makes everyone else, who ignores, denies, justifies, or excuses his heinous crimes look exceeding stupid, or completely immoral! Kristina has NEVER been more unlikable in the wake of Jagger's murder, and Lois is running a close second!

Don't feel sorry for Heather; she doesn't deserve it, but Portia - who doesn't seem to grasp the meaning of the term "professional ethics" - needs to join Heather and Alexis' slumber party at Pentonville! As General Hospitals Worst... Co-COS... EVER! she's an absolute DISGRACE to her profession! I hope she's exposed, loses her job, and her medical license, and is sued into oblivion by Ric and Heather! I'd also like to see Po face some criminal charges too, but I'm not sure if she's actually broken any laws. *** Most people think Krissy gets her disdain for the Law from her father, but I think a lot of it comes from seeing the cynical way her mother abuses the legal system whenever it suits her purposes to do so... usually in the name of "protecting her family," which is the same excuse ALL the Bad Guys use! That's why they shouldn't be allowed to have kids in the first place! Right now, Krissy is not only her OWN worst enemy, but her mother's and father's too! Every time she tries to "do something" it just makes things that much worse for everybody! There's GOT to be some way to get her committed to Shadybrook for some involuntary therapy, where they can put her in a padded cell, in a straitjacket, to keep her from doing any MORE damage! *** Flea did a surprisingly good job evaluating Krissy's situation, but every time she mentioned "cases like yours," I kept thinking "WHAT cases??" How many women lose the surrogate baby they were going to steal from their sister, after falling through a hotel window into a swimming pool, who then accidentally frames their mother for a murder that neither one of them committed, despite the fact that they BOTH wanted to? Is there a LOT of that sort of thing going around? *** Marty's southern accent must be connected to his hair, like Samson's great strength! Cut Samson's long hair, and he's no stronger than any ordinary man; cut Marty's fantastic head of hair, and shave him clean, and his Col Sanders, Kentucky Fried Accent all but disappears! Funny how that works. Now, for some reason, I want to hear Marty and Lois to engage in a serious conversation. *** The way Genatalia cackles at her own, usually lame attempts at humor, is extremely annoying! And to say her timing is bad would be a WILD understatement! I wouldn't have been surprised if she showed up at Sonny's with a bottle of bubbly on the day of Baby Irene's funeral!

THIS is why they say any defendant who represents themselves has a fool for a client! One of Alexis' biggest problems - aside from her HORRENDUS taste in men - has always been overconfidence in herself, and her legal abilities. She thinks, because of her legal expertise, that she can manipulate the system, through selective perjury, to achieve her desired outcome, but it seldom works out like that. Oh sure, she got away with murdering Luis Alcazar, and Keifer Bauer by claiming she was under some form of mental distress, but knocking off a mobster and an entitled frat boy isn't the same thing as murdering an FBI agent! Today, Alexis' sordid past is catching up to her, and as we saw, she's not nearly as smart, or as clever as she thinks she is. After all these years of defending Sonny, Julian, Jerry, and other boyfriends criminals, maybe the problem is that Alexis underestimates the abilities of the PCPD, as much as she overestimates herself, but whatever the reason, Alexis was sorely mistaken to think that she could talk her way out of this one! Alexis actually thought she was going to walk out of that courtroom, either on bail, or after having the charges dismissed outright! I don't think she ever seriously considered any other outcome, until the second Judge Otis denied bail, and remanded her to Pentonville! Alexis: "Gee THANKS, Kristina!" Alexis is right where she belongs for thinking she can manipulate the legal system. Whether she's convicted or not, when the truth comes out, she should lose her license to practice Law for committing perjury (AGAIN!), and do some time in Pentonville for obstruction of justice, for attempting to destroy evidence in a capital case, and for being a TERRIBLE mother to Molly, and a pain in everybody's ass in general! Smarty's really got his work cut out for him with this one. It'll take a miracle to get those charges dropped, unless Sam can find that gun in the river. *** When SubSam dives into the river in search of the gun that Alexis tossed, she needs to wear a skin tight scuba suit! She looked super HAWT in those leggings this week, so I think in the very near future, more form-fitting outfits are definitely called for!

All of these people complaining about new format are just uncomfortable with change. Leas pop up ads, cleaner navigation, links actually work and are posted on time - it’s like a real grown up website. I won’t miss old columnists who droned on and on. This was succinct, hit on all storylines, and didn’t write all about themselves. People are just crabby.

@erinzaboracYes...as I stated, the older we get the less we like drastic changes. As for the columnists, most of us who previously commented here enjoyed the "kinship" we developed through the years. (It is, after all, a commentary/editorial column.) The straight up daily dish is in the recaps. But I'm glad you enjoy it, and I certainly wish them success.

@erinzaboracWhat are you talking about? Less pop-up ads? Do you really think you can convince anyone of that when we are literally seeing them pop up on our screens at this very moment? Links that work when we couldn't access the archives for weeks? I don't remember links not working when Dan ran this site. Cleaner navigation? That's a joke right? Maybe you mistook this site for Soap Hub. It's got the same generic look. I'm not sure what your definition of an opinion column is, but mine includes commentary and insight and more than a basic summary of the week. You might not have liked how Tamilu and Liz wrote but plenty of us did, which is why they a successful column for two decades. They also engaged their readers and even highlighted their comments in their columns. Am I crabby? Hell yeah I am. I used to love this site and all it had to offer, but in just a few short months it's gone down the toilet. I've been trying to give the new owners time to work out the kinks, but I think I'm done here. Like I said, even the recaps are articles are garbage. @scrimmage @missezpremise, you guys rock. Therefore, this non Disqus format s*cks! This week wasn't bad, and every story has soapy potential. But the pacing and the editing are terrible. @ScrimmageI had a feeling last week when I saw that Tamilu and Liz Masters were leaving the site that this would happen. Lately, hacks have been flooding the site with article after article about the most ridiculous things, so I'm not surprised that one of them would take over the Two Scoops. What a disappointment. This person didn't even bother to introduce herself to us or put any real effort into writing something that comes close to the quality of content we got from Tamilu and Liz. It's kind of insulting really. I used to come here every week to read the recaps, columns and enjoy the comments. You guys are great, but I can't say the same for theTwo Scoops. More like 1/4 scoop. The recaps have gotten bad too. Sloppy quotes, missing chunks of scenes, and an overall lack of attention to important details. I'm starting to see why the ladies bailed because the quality of this site has gone downhill. I saw an article about pumpkin spice tumblers not too long ago. WTH does that have to do with soaps or even daytime entertainment? This Two Scoops is my final straw, so I decided to comment.

Welcome to Any and All New Folks here! My Opinions, as always, jotted down during the week while viewing. Any Similarities to Y'All's Opinions is simply Great Minds Thinking Alike! ~~~ I was loving Ava's Outfit while Sonny and Ric were Rehashing Old Times. (Really Boyz? Still with the "Mom liked YOU Best!" BS?) Sonny needs to TELL THE TRUTH. So do Alexis, NotKrissy, Ava, and 99% of Port Charles. Someone needs to Blanket Port Charles with a Dose of Truth Serum. Could you imagine? It would be like a Giant Jenga Game gone Catastrophically Wrong. ~~~ Tracy's reverting into Abrasive Mode! What gives? Is Finn returning soon? Tracy needs her Buddy. She can't be wasting her time (and Our Time) being jealous of Cooty and Sasha. ~~~~ Oh PLEASE STOP with this Willow and Uncle DrewQ BS. Of COURSE she'd be doing Yoga just outside the Boathouse on the Exact Spot that NotJagger Jingleheimer Cates was Shot In Cold Blood, In the Rain, by Sonny. And OF COURSE Uncle DrewQ would jog by, Half-Naked and Sweaty just as Willow stumbled so he could catch her Just. STAHP. I like Ninny's Idea. DrewQ, use Ninny as a Prop. Y'all deserve each other. ~~~ Who messed with Heather's lab results? Porthole? Is that why she's in such a good mood? ~~~ Why is Tad/Smarty suddenly combing his hair exactly like Slic Ric? It looks good on Ric, but Odd on Tad. Er, Marty. Maybe his Mama gave him a Haircut in exchange for the Butterfly Pie. Hummingbird Cake. Whatever. ~~~ Well. it looks like Alexis has the Best Cell Mate Ever! HA!! This should be Fun. ~~~ So Sam's going diving for the Gun? Geez I sure hope this isn't what kills her off. Can you imagine if Sam drowns trying to retrieve Sonny's Gun that NotKrissy Stole that Alexis Chucked into the River? I don't think I could stand the Remaining "Davis Girls" Guilt-Ridden Wailing, Weeping, and Gnashing of Teeth. ~~~ Smiley Cyrus!! Just what Lulu needs, I'm sure. Betcha Uncle Smiley's too old to donate part of his liver, eh? Besides, didn't he used to partake in some of those Narcotics he used to be so fond of? That could certainly cause liver damage. Just Saying. ~~~~ Jordan and Joss's Timely Chat about Organ Donation was Relevant and a great PSA ( My License says "Organ Donor" on the back!) But when they were talking about what an "Incredible Gift" it is, which is 100% True, I couldn't help but remember where Joss got her Kidney (Originally from Supposedly-Dead Jake, then down the line, it was revealed that Jax paid for Nell's Stolen Kidney for Joss). And didn't Jordan get her Kidney from Ryan via Not-Too-Kosher Means? Um. Yep. ~~~~ Can't Rocco donate? Too young? ~~~ Boy, Jordan's getting Bossy and Possessive of Isaiah! Kicking Smiley Cyrus out like that. ::Fascinating:: They would make a Very Attractive Couple!! Ooo, Brick's gonna be Jealous!!! ~~~ Hmmm... Lois seems to be the only person thinking clearly, when she announced to the Q Gang that "The Boathouse is Still a Crime Scene!" No Sh↕ł Sherlock! However, I do prefer "Over-The-Top-Brooklyn Lois" to "Eliza DooLois". Now her speech is choppy and unnatural. ~~~ Of Course Sidwell's Goon would overhear Anna and Holly. Anna's been in "Stupid-Spy" Mode for literally Months now, if not longer. When did Charlotte burn her House down again? Oh, it wasn't Charlotte? Sure it was. ~~~~ Ninny's more tolerable these days. Geez she's already acting like she and DrewQ are a Couple. Except EwDrew doesn't realize that Ninny knows that Willow has the Hots for Uncle DrewQ (Ew). Say that Ten Times Fast. ~~~ Mikey didn't seem too Ticked Off that DrewQ appointed Curtis "Acting CEO of Aurora". But wait till he finds out, and he will, that Willow has been Lusting after Uncle EwDrew for Months now!! That should be Fun. ~~ Say, where ARE Kevin and Laura? Has anyone asked? Maybe they need to be rescued! Or, will Mayor Laura and Doctor Kevin rescue Anna and Jason? Someone PLEASE find Lucky soon! He needs to be Power-Washed!

@MissezPremiseBecause we're obviously in Cahoots, and usually see things exactly the same way, a few days ago, on another GH site that still allows such things, I posted a YouTube video of the Smothers Brothers signature "Mom liked YOU best!" routine, and compared it to Sonny and Ric, and Molly and Kristina! If you remember the infamous "Toxic Water" storyline, I'd love to see them adapt your idea to something similar, only this time, dosing the whole town with Truth Serum that would make everyone incapable of lying for 48 hours! How much fun would THAT be?? As far as Anna's deteriorating spycraft skills, I thought she was unbelievably clumsy, not to mention obvious when she was replacing Sidwell's phone that she stole for no reason. The idea that neither the dealer, nor any of Sidwell's goons, nor any of the cameras in the casino saw her do that is absolutely ludicrous! The next time you're gambling in some casino in Las Vegas, or Atlantic City, just try to root around in someone else's jacket pocket, and see how long it takes for them to haul you off in handcuffs! Watching out for pickpockets is one of their main responsibilities!

@ScrimmageI was thinking of the "Toxic Water" scenario when I mentioned the Truth Serum! I also noticed how ridiculously easy it was to slip in and out of Sidwell's jacket. And yes, though I didn't see your post about the Smothers Brothers, that's exactly who I was thinking of in reference to Slic Ric and The Teflon Don! Cahoots, indeed!

@MissezPremiseLaura/Genie Francis is on her annual vacation. Why GH chose to do the Lucky re-entry now when we have to drag it out is beyond me. She goes on extended vacation every year - it's in her contract. Kevin (who it seems is always on vacation) went with Genie for the ride.
