General Hospital’s Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) seems like he’s trying to change his scheming ways by explaining that he's not going to get serial murderer Heather Webber (Alley Mills) out of jail by defending her. He's simply going to get her money by suing the company that made the faulty hip replacement that allegedly turned her into a homicidal maniac. The busy lawyer has also taken on Ava Jerome (Maura West) as a client because he feels the loss of Kristina Corinthos-Davis' (Kate Mansi) baby was truly an accident. Hearst is also super busy, because he recently revealed that when he’s not acting, he has a side gig that he loves.
His Home State is Beautiful
Rick Hearst shared a video on Instagram in September and captioned it:
A little view of the ‘garden state’ from my back yard. Side note: can you tell I’m an Eagles fan from my last three video posts?

In his previous posts, he wore a T-shirt with a logo for the Eagles, a professional American soccer team.
Panning around his lovely yard, Hearst explained that he had a couple of weeks off from filming General Hospital and would soon be on a plane back to California. A resident of New Jersey, Hearst wanted his fans to see what the state looked like. He further stated that many people believe that the entire state is like its largest city, Newark, which has an airport and a surrounding industrial area.
Hearst said he lives in beautiful South Central New Jersey, and he also made a surprising statement about his career, aside from acting:
I also happen to be a real estate agent here. I love helping people find homes here, sell their homes here. It’s really a great lifestyle out here. I’ve absolutely loved it.
The General Hospital star shared the beauty of where he lives
He explained that he was born in Queens, New York. After his parents’ separation, he moved to Fort Lee, New Jersey, ultimately ending up in Rockland County in New York. Now a happy resident of New Jersey, he stated that he recorded at his home, and he panned the camera around to capture the lush trees, grass, and bushes everywhere, remarking:
There’s a lot of green. That’s more green than I wanna have. It’s a lot to mow. And yes, I do mow my own lawn. I know, nuts.
Hearst pointed out the wooded area on the perimeter of his land and explained that he would see the leaves turning colors for the fall when he returns from shooting his latest General Hospital scenes. Then he pointed out several ground-level planters, and he credited his 81-year-old mother for tending to and caring for them well. Although they didn't enjoy a good tomato season this year, he highlighted several tomatoes that were thriving. The garden also included cucumbers, chili peppers, and other plants.
He said New Jersey is not like the way the media portrays it
The General Hospital star wrapped things up by stating,
That’s Jersey. It’s a beautiful place. You should come visit—it’s a lot of fun. A lot of great things. It’s about an hour [and] ten minutes from the city. You can go in anytime and enjoy yourself. There’s tons of shows to see.
And then hilariously added,
You’re not gonna run in there and get stabbed, no matter what the news says. I’ve been in and out of there a million times. Just keep your head about you. Go with people. Just be safe like you would anywhere else.
Several fans really loved his post and were happy that he returned to General Hospital. One mentioned knowing someone who was moving to New Jersey, and they wanted to hook the friend up with Hearst. The incredibly nice actor encouraged the friend to get in touch so he could help them find a house.
