In her office at the PCPD, Anna was reviewing the board of suspects when Dante arrived. She updated him on the ballistics report, the search warrants, and about not finding the firearm during their search at the Quartermaines. Because Dante lived at the Quartermaines, Anna thought he was the perfect person to help her figure it out. Regardless of not finding the gun, she said, just knowing where the weapon came from could help narrow the list of suspects.

Anna wanted to take a second look at Carly, whom she felt had the means, motive, and history of violence in the name of protecting her children (i.e., shooting Tony Jones in open court). Because Carly’s alibi was Jack Brennan, Anna felt it was worthless.

Anna and Dante went on to discuss Michael as the second main suspect, whose alibi with Jacinda they felt was also unreliable. Dante understood how bad the evidence looked, but told Anna that he didn’t actually think Michael did it. He talked about how many people came in and out of the Quartermaines. She asked what he thought of Willow as the shooter. Though she didn’t have a history of violence, he said, you never knew what someone's tipping point may be, and imagined losing your kids could be one. Anna called up security footage from Nina’s building from the night of the shooting. Nina was shown alone at the time she’d claimed to have been walking with Willow, thereby voiding Willow’s alibi.

Michael was waiting at Elizabeth’s house when Willow walked in. She expressed her condolences for Monica’s passing and the pain he and the kids must be going through. He was there to discuss the notice from the judge about the visitation hearing being postponed until January.

Michael felt it was too long for Willow and the kids to be apart and said he was there because he wanted her to be able to see the kids. He clarified that he still did not want Drew anywhere near their kids. She cried and said it had been a long time since she heard him refer to the kids as theirs. He wanted her to be able to spend time with the kids and be a mother to them, but emphasized that the offer only extended to her and not Drew.

When she agreed, Michael said he would make arrangements for visitation in “a safe and controlled environment.” Willow wanted to know what that meant, so Michael told her the visitation would be supervised by a family therapist. She was in disbelief that he expected her to have supervised visits with her own children, but he said it would be a chance for them to spend some time together for an hour a week.

Willow questioned the short time as well as how Wylie and Amelia would react to having a therapist there. Michael thought she would be more grateful. She claimed to be, but said it was hard to be overly grateful when it really meant that he didn’t trust her to be around their children. He was initially sympathetic as to why she would feel that way. Then, she asked if the therapist was on his or his father’s payroll and if she had to worry if the therapist was going to get up on the stand and say whatever Michael wanted to make Willow look like an unfit parent.

Michael said he was just trying to get Willow and the kids in the same room together in the most secure way possible. When she remarked that he wouldn’t like timed supervised visits with his own children, he said he hadn’t made the same choices she had. She questioned if it was a punishment, but he said it was actually an opportunity and a step forward that he didn’t have to give.

Willow claimed she was trying to start a fight because fighting had turned her into someone she wasn’t…someone with no kids, no power, and very few choices. She commented that it must be nice having all the power and wished she had even a little. In response, Michael told her she had the power to see her kids again. He told her to prove she really loved them as much as she claimed by swallowing her pride, spending some time with the kids, and being their mom again.

Willow told Michael he held all of the cards and knew her answer before she even walked through the door. Michael said he knew what he hoped she’d say, but he still needed to hear her say it. She agreed to the terms but also said it wasn’t really much of a choice not to.

Jason thought he was waiting for Carly at Pier 54, but Jack Brennan showed up instead. He told Jason Carly was held up with a non-serious family emergency. Angry, Jason began to leave, but Brennan stopped him. Jason knew Brennan wouldn’t want him to tell Carly that Joss was in the WSB. Jack emphasized that Josslyn needed to maintain her cover, even with Carly.

Brennan continued to verbally spar with Jason for a moment before he asked, “Is Carly knowing the truth about her daughter more important than Britt’s freedom?” Jason surmised that if he told Carly about Jack’s lies, then he would go after Britt. Brennan said Britt actually brought everything on herself by violating several international laws with her involvement at the Five Poppies. He claimed it would be enough to put Britt away at Steinmauer for the rest of her life. But, Brennan said, he could be what puts her there or what keeps her out, depending on whether Jason agreed to stay silent about Josslyn.

Jason grudgingly agreed and left. Brennan had a smile of relief as if he felt in the clear when Carly called. He could tell by Carly’s response that something was wrong. She told him to get to her house to find out what it was.

After Josslyn left her mom’s house, she asked Vaughn to meet her at Pier 54. She let Vaughn know that she had told her mom about him being in the WSB. He seemed to question why she did it, but ultimately, he told her it was a smart move and that he would have done the same thing. The two spoke fondly and acknowledged how hard it would be to accept they couldn’t be together. They both hoped that something might change in the future, but in the end, shared a passionate kiss and said goodbye.

In Carly’s kitchen, Josslyn, as a cover story, told her that Vaughn lied about being a janitor and was actually a WSB agent. Joss gave a made-up, detailed account of how she found out the truth about Vaughn and did a great job of selling it to her mom. It then occurred to Carly that Jack would have known Vaughn was a WSB agent all along.

Carly was angered that Josslyn could have been in danger by being with Vaughn, yet Jack said nothing. She felt it was one thing for him to keep secrets about his work, but another to keep them about her daughter. She called Brennan to demand he come to the house.

When Jack arrived, Carly asked Joss to leave. The “waves of hostility” rolling off of her let him know that she was not happy. She asked why he didn’t tell her that Vaughn was in the WSB. He claimed it was classified information, but Carly said she didn’t give a damn about classified information when it came to her daughter.

Jack scrambled to calm Carly, but she told him he lied to her face and violated her trust. He reminded her that she knew there would be times when he had to keep things from her, and she’d said she could handle separating his job from their relationship. But, Carly was no longer sure she could.

Carly acknowledged that she entered their relationship informed and thought her eyes were wide open, but now, she felt she was fooling herself because she clearly didn’t understand what it meant to be with someone in the WSB. Upset and conflicted, she wanted to trust him. Jack claimed he could be who he needed to be with his job and still be someone Carly could believe in, and he wanted her to be able to trust him more than anything.

At the hospital, Britt went to see Nathan in his room. He was getting dressed in anticipation of getting discharged and said it was time for him to face up to his new reality. Britt wanted a chance to talk with just the two of them before he left, but Spinelli arrived. Spinelli wanted to discuss the next steps in regards to James, but Britt argued it wasn’t the time and made him leave.

Britt still wanted to talk, but had to get back to work. By the nurse’s hub, Spinelli was waiting to talk with Britt. He said he was consumed by “several unresolved curiosities” and wanted to know why she was concerned about James meeting Nathan.

Spinelli said the resurrection of both of Faison’s children within a matter of weeks was astonishing and a statistical marvel. He said he believed Nathan didn’t know where he’d been or what had happened to him, but Britt had offered no explanation as to where she had been, so he was, in fact, suspicious of her. Britt claimed she was working at a spa in Croatia, trying to live a quiet life until Jason meddled.

After leaving the docks, Jason met Britt at the hospital. She told him about Spinelli coming by for a visit and said he was making accusations that she had some kind of agenda that was tied to her brother’s return. Jason said he believed she’d never hurt James, but didn’t know about anything else. He questioned how he was supposed to trust her when she hadn’t been up front about anything, left so many unanswered questions about the Five Poppies, and kept holding things back. Because of that, he claimed he couldn’t protect her.

Jason claimed he couldn’t protect Britt until he knew what he was protecting her from. She said she didn’t need defending from anyone and questioned if he’d actually do anything to protect her like he claimed. She felt that, if it were Carly, he wouldn’t need to know what she was doing at the Five Poppies, but Jason said, if it were Carly, he wouldn’t even have to ask because she would have already told him.

Britt wanted Jason gone and out of her way, but he was confused as to what she was even talking about. She told him he had to commit to putting her first or stay the hell out of her way. He said he would do everything he could for her, but that did not satisfy Britt, who said it wasn’t the answer she wanted.

Spinelli went back in to talk with Nathan. They talked about James and Maxie. Nathan lamented not remembering the last seven years and being there for his son, but acknowledged how hard it had been for the rest of them to see Maxie lying in a hospital bed. Spinelli realized that Nathan still loved Maxie. To Nathan, Maxie was still his wife. He expressed his gratitude to Spinelli for being there for Maxie and James. They both agreed that James would come first, and Nathan gave his word to be the father James needed and deserved.
