Grey's Anatomy casts GH's Patricia Bethune as... a nurse!

General Hospital said, "Off with her head!" So, Grey's Anatomy snatched up Patricia Bethune, now famous for her role as the ill-fated Ferncliff nurse Mary Pat.

Patricia Bethune will always have a place in soap opera history, forever being known as the General Hospital nurse whose severed head was found floating in a bucket of apples on Halloween. Fortunately, the actress will have a second shift as a nurse, this time on Grey's Anatomy.

Bethune took to social media to announce that hot on the heels of wrapping up her stint as Ferncliff nurse Mary Pat, she headed (no pun intended) to ABC's popular medical series playing a character with the same profession.

"Sitting blissfully on set #greysanatomy #grateful to bring to life a piece of the beautiful story this week written by the glorious @erfinchie directed by multi talented @KristaVernoff," she wrote along with a behind-the-scenes photo.

Bethune is scheduled to make her Grey's Anatomy debut on Thursday, November 8. The episode, titled Anybody Have a Map?, follows Catherine Fox (played by guest star Debbie Allen), who summons Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Koracick (Greg Germann) to visit for a highly confidential consult. Meanwhile, one of the nurses is 28 weeks pregnant and collapses at the hospital while talking to Richard (James Pickens, Jr.).

No details about Bethune's character have been provided, but considering she's wearing scrubs in her on-set selfie, it's safe to say she's playing a nurse again. Here's hoping this time around, her shift doesn't come to such a grizzly end!
