GH's Wes Ramsey releases "deeply personal" book of poetry

Fans will be able to get closer to the heart and soul of General Hospital actor Wes Ramsey (Peter August) via his new "deeply personal" book of poetry, titled Into the Black.

Halloween is typically the time of year to revel in darkness and horror, which makes it a curious time for General Hospital star Wes Ramsey (Peter August) to release his second book of poetry, called Into the Black. Although, when one considers the title, perhaps Halloween is exactly the right time to reveal what the actor describes as his "deeply personal" project.

Ramsey took to social media to announce the upcoming release of his poetry book. He shared a picture of a tree trunk along with the caption, "All my life I've written. I never knew where it came from or why I started, I just knew I had to do it. All these years later so much about it is still a mystery to me, but I've long since embraced it as a calling in my life, but only more recently as a deeply personal gift to share with the world. With that said, I'm proud to announce that four weeks from today, on Halloween, I will release Into the Black as the second volume of my work. It will be available at wesramsey.com. I hope it find its way to those it belongs with."

Ramsey released his first book of poetry, titled Salt & Sand, back in 2014. Sadly, the volume has been "retired to history," according to the actor's website. This new book -- filled with poetry written between 2002 and 2017 -- is much larger than the first and is described as "a raw look inside the journey between life's struggles and the beauty of the gift within those struggles that make us who we are. It is an intimate glimpse into the heart and mind of an artist who has endured."

Wes Ramsey joined the cast of GH in 2017, playing bad guy Peter -- who has actually turned out to be more of a good guy that fans have grown to love. Ramsey also played Days of our Lives' Owen in 2009 and Guiding Light's Sam Spencer from 2001 to 2008 (which means some of the poems included in Into the Black were written during his Salem and Springfield days!).

Into the Black will be available for purchase beginning on Thursday, October 31, directly from Ramsey's website.
