Monaco says there was "no doubt" she'd re-sign with GH

Emmy-nominated General Hospital star says there was "no doubt" that she'd renew her contract with General Hospital. The actress' comment comes after a casting call seemingly put her future with the ABC soap in question. Monaco joined GH in 2003.

Kelly Monaco (Sam McCall) has broken her silence and commented on the rumors that said she's leaving General Hospital.

It's been two weeks since ABC released a casting call seeking actresses "female, Caucasian, brunette, sexy, dynamic and fiery" actresses in the 30s to audition for the "established" role of Sam McCall. Fans of the actress immediately went into panic mode, flooding the Soap Central message boards with questions about Monaco's status with the ABC soap. Some of Monaco's co-stars even got involved, taking to Twitter to assure fans not to believe everything they read.

While ABC did release a casting call, Monaco tells Soap Opera Digest that "there really was no doubt" that she would sign a new contract with General Hospital. The twice-Emmy-nominated actress explains that since she and the network had not signed off on the new contract by a set deadline, it was "standard procedure" for ABC to release the casting call. In fact, Monaco notes that General Hospital executive producer, Jill Farren Phelps, contacted her personally to let her know that the breakdown was being released.
