Robert James Ritchie, popularly known by his stage name, Kid Rock, is an American singer, rapper, musician, and songwriter. He recently made the headlines for an outfit he wore for his meeting with President Donald Trump at the Oval Office.

Ritchie came in dressed in an over-the-top American suit, complete with the color combination of blue, red, and white. The suit had stars embroidered on the sleeves, musical notes near the cuffs, the actual image of the flag on the front, and stripes on the pants. He even paired it with a matching hat.

According to the United States Flag Code, Kid Rod's American flag outfit violated it. The code states,

"The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever. It should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkins or boxes or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard."

Additionally, it is also mentioned,

"No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform."

Is Kid Rock going to be penalized for his American flag outfit?

While Kid Rock broke the code of the United States Flag, it should be noted that the code uses words such as "should" and "custom", which means that anyone who disobeys the code might not be punished or face any sort of penalty.

However, in the District of Columbia, anyone seen wearing anything related to the American flag, this is what the law states,

"an article of merchandise ... upon which shall have been printed, painted, attached, or otherwise placed a representation of any such flag" counts as a misdemeanor that "shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $100 or by imprisonment for not more than 30 days, or both"

What is the purpose of Kid Rock's visit to the President?

Kid Rock's visit to the Oval Office was reportedly driven by his campaign against corruption while selling tickets in the music industry. Ritchie explained how tickets are being bought by bots and third parties, who then sell these tickets at an extremely high price to the fans.

He visited the Oval Office so President Trump could sign an executive order to change the ticketing rules of the live entertainment industry.

However, President Trump was so engrossed by Kid Rock's outfit that he almost forgot to sign the executive order. The president even joked about wearing the outfit for April Fool's Day.

At the end of the meeting, the All Summer Long singer thanked the president for making everything happen "at lightning speed". On President Trump's part, he wished Ritchie the best with the new order, telling him to make it "nice and clean".
