Lisa of BLACKPINK gave a remarkable musical performance on stage at Coachella 2025. Away from the group's collective spotlight, Lisa's first major solo performance highlighted her transforming ability using two different outfit designs.
These outfits accentuated her performance range and deftly portrayed the two aspects of her "alter ego" persona. Her exclusive performance attires were curated by renowned fashion designer Asher Levine and was styled by Brett Alan Nelson.
BLACKPINK’s Lisa's outfit for her Coachella 2025 performance
Lisa's performance began with a robust and somewhat audacious wardrobe. The first item that drew attention was a tight, long-sleeved bodysuit resembling lizard armor. Apart from a three-dimensional black scale pattern, the design includes sharp, iridescent spikes running down the arms and structured shoulders.
A key element of the design was the slouchy front belt, which drew back to the pop iconography of the late 90s—a detail that softly echoed the flamboyant style of that era while also being current. This careful design showed one character's real-time shedding, giving viewers a startling visual change. With its geometric elements and rough materials, the bodysuit radiated futuristic aggressiveness.
Lisa introduced a second dress as bold and artistically rich as she moved from her violent to her more gentle performance. This approach moved toward a more natural, organic look from the austere armor.
There was an interaction of turquoise, opalescent white, and subdued pink, with which the second costume shimmered under the stage lights. The look was inspired by the design elements from bioluminescent plants and animals.
Fundamentally, the design included small "petals" that radiated light and UV-reactive tendrils. When the stage lights hit the garment, these sections emitted a light that appeared otherworldly, enveloping the audience in a soft, beautiful glow. The figure-hugging shape of the clothing allowed expressive movement.
One of the other designs featured Lisa in a beautiful two-piece scarlet outfit that would draw attention with its rich color and detailed decorations. The ensemble consisted of an inside shirt shaped like a star and a long-sleeved jacket with bright spikes and metallic accents.
The mix of the red hue with rhinestones placed in and red light decorations on the shoulders produced a neat and forceful statement. This approach was commended for its striking look and for its simplicity in matching the lively elements of her performance.
Another wardrobe change produced an outfit that exuded the elegant grace of a butterfly flying over the heavens. Lisa's elegant stage motions, which highlighted the delicate features shimmering in the light, motivated the creative team behind this look.
The lighting effects created an amazing view as if Lisa had turned into a brilliant, animated work of art. Her outfit's flawless blend of technology and beautiful design highlighted her ability to include a story in every element of her performance.
Completing her metamorphosis-inducing outfit was a costume inspired by a significant relationship between GCDS and Hello Kitty, using quirky pop-culture elements—a customized two-piece "Kitty".
Her earlier clothes had a strong, futuristic attitude, while this one had a casual, almost whimsical sense to it. Emphasizing that her personalities had a softer, more accessible side in addition to her fury and otherworldliness, the design showed beautiful graphic patterns with a modern flair.
