Why is Shannon Storms Beador on probation?

According to PEOPLE, via the court records that were received, Shannon Storms Beador was arrested on September 11, 2023, for drunk driving and a hit-and-run. The Newport Beach Police Department told PEOPLE that Beador was:

"arrested at 1:17 a.m. on Sept. 17 after fleeing the scene from a collision that caused property damage."

According to TMZ, it was also allegedly reported that the reality star left her car in the middle of the road and was found walking her dog. After the authorities tested her alcohol level, she had a .24 blood alcohol level, which is three times the legal limit.

The Newport Beach Police Department also told PEOPLE that Shannon Storms Beador was:

"booked for two misdemeanors — hit-and-run and DUI alcohol. She was released on a citation."

In addition to her DUI, the reality star also had to pay a fine of $390, complete 40 hours of community service, and complete an alcohol program that lasted for a period of nine months.

Shannon Storms Beador has expressed remorse for her actions during an interview with PEOPLE in 2024. She said:

"I could have killed someone... And part of my therapy has been trying to move past that guilt and shame. You say to yourself, 'I could have killed someone... but I didn't.' So I don't want it to appear that I'm taking any of this lightly, because there's not a day that goes by that I don't think about it. But I didn't hurt someone, and I'm grateful for that."

Her lawyer, Michael L. Fell, has also expressed that Beador was:

"...extremely apologetic and remorseful."

Fast forward to 2025, the Real Housewives of Orange County star was cited two months ago for using an electronic device while driving.

Although Shannon's most recent offense is not as serious as her 2023 DUI and hit-and-run offense, it still puts the reality star under scrutiny from the law, as well as the public.
