Tavia, wife of Clark Hunt, first confirmed the death of Janie Hunt on her Instagram post. The post reads:

''Our hearts are broken by the devastation from the floods in Wimberley and the tragic loss of many lives — including a precious little Hunt cousin, along with several friends' little girls.''

The caption included:

''f your heart is broken, I assure you God is near. He is gentle with your wounds. And He is still worthy—even when your soul is struggling to believe it. Trust doesn’t mean you’re over the pain; it means you’re handing it to the only One who can hold it with love and restore what was lost.''

As per reports, Janie was attending the summer camp for girls at Camp Mystic in Kerr County. Gracie also shared a tribute post, which reads:

''Some days, it’s hard to understand how the world can hold both so much beauty and so much pain. How can the same God who created the stars and set the planets in motion allow such deep suffering?''

It continues:

''My heart aches for our extended family and friends who lost daughters—for every life lost and every family shattered by the floods in Texas. I don’t have easy answers, but I do know this: following Jesus doesn’t spare us from pain—but it means we never face it alone. 🤍 Even in the darkest valleys, we hold on to the hope that this is not the end of the story.''

Gracie's post ends with a hopeful message:

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day… So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

As per AP News, the floods in Camp Mystic have claimed the lives of 27 campers and counselors, with about 10 girls and a staff member still missing.
