Brazilian actress Bia Lomelino passed away on August 27. The news was confirmed by her father, Ronaldo Melino, on Instagram:
"Today I said goodbye to my little star. 25 years of so much, happiness. Fate decided that she could no longer stay with us. I am grateful to all the friends and family who hugged me today. That positive energy brings comfort and soothes the soul. ❤️"
However, the cause of her death has not been revealed yet. She was 25.
Bia Lomelino worked on many successful projects in her career, including Flashback, Heathers, and Despertar da Primavera. Before her death, she was working on the film Poema with Jay Vaquer, a director and musician, as reported by CNN Brasil.
Jay Vaquer pays tribute to Bia Lomelino
Jay Vaquer wrote a long post on his Instagram, paying tribute to Bia Lomelino and appreciating her talent. Reflecting on her final project, Poema, he wrote:
"You have always received praise with genuine humility and rewarded with kind and generous words. When we watch our "Poema! " together for the first time, I will never forget how much we exchanged extreme happiness. It was exciting. That moment was too beautiful Our conquest."
He further added:
"I hold on to luck, to the privilege of being able to see your beautiful art so close at each stage. It was like that for me while we were rehearsing, filming and in the post stage. Always a pleasure watching your work. What a great honor to have been your director. Write a text and melodies that you know how to perform in a sublime way. I don't know when and how I will be able to stand watching our movie."
Talking about Bia Lomelino's future projects, he wrote:
"We had a lot of plans. We were already reading, rehearsing the next projects. I would peep so many movies and plays with you. It was our combination. You said: "Go, go!" It brings security and the certainty of an always pleasant get-together in the process. And how that makes a difference too. I will continue to carry you in my heart and in art that I can perform forever. I am very thankful for SO MUCH. See you one day."
The film, Poema, is reportedly still in production, and no official timeline for its premiere has been shared so far.
