What is the plot of We Live In Time?
In John Crowley's romantic drama We Live In Time, we see the encounter between a Weetabix employee named Tobias Durand and an aspiring chef Almut Bruhl. Tobias, on the verge of a divorce, has an accident and the car was being driven by Almut. As Tobias is admitted to the hospital, Almut as a gesture of goodwill, invites him for dinner and the two gradually grow fond of each other.
Though Almut initially hesitates to get into a relationship with Tobias, after a series of overwhelming developments, they fall in love. It is soon learned by the couple that Almut is suffering from ovarian cancer and can later face difficulties in conceiving. She undergoes treatment with the support of Tobias and over time, they have a baby under quite some strenuous conditions.
A few years later, Almut's cancer worsens and she gets to know that it has advanced to the third stage.
Simultaneously, Almut gets an invitation from a colleague named Simon to take part in the most prestigious cooking contest, Bocuse d'Or. While balancing her chemotherapies and marriage preparations, Almut keeps up with her training and makes it to the cooking competition final with her partner Jade.
The date of Tobias and Almut's wedding clashes with the latter's final competition. Eventually, the wedding is canceled and Almut goes to Italy for the contest.
The ending remains open as we see Almut, Tobias and their daughter Ella return home. They get a dog, a companion, especially in their hard times. With little time to live, Almut spends all of it with her family doing the things she loves.
