Cillian Murphy may have won an Oscar for playing the father of the atomic bomb, but Peaky Blinders fans might always associate him with charismatic Thomas "Tommy" Shelby, busting his tweed cap as he gets down to handle the matters of his infamous gang. The 49-year-old actor will soon reprise his role in a movie that will follow Tommy and his family's life after where the show left off at the end of its sixth season.

With Steven Knight's script and Tom Harper's direction, the project seems right up the alley for anyone who can't get enough of the show's enduring legacy. Netflix is backing the movie along with the BBC film. The plot is still under wraps, but it is speculated to follow shortly after Tommy left the reins of the organization to his illegitimate son, Duke. It showed how, in Tommy's absence, Duke is left to deal with the good, the bad, and the ugly of the business.

Toward the end of Peaky Blinders, Duke's appearance caused a stir in the family and displeased Finn in particular. It creates a ripple effect on his relationship with the family since he feels betrayed and hurt by Tommy's decision to prefer Duke over him. By the end of the sixth season, Finn doesn't die, but he gets banished from the family. It leaves Duke in charge of the organization back home. To many people's surprise, he might end up being the villain in the movie.

The Peaky Blinders movie, reportedly titled An Immortal Man, will be the first time fans will get to meet the family since the show seemingly concluded in 2022. What seemed like an emotional affair with a few loose threads, the show also left viewers pondering over its themes of loyalty, greed, and corruption, besides the fate of its characters. There have been numerous discussions on social media about the potential future of all its characters, whether Tommy, Finn, or Duke.

For a big chunk of the show, Finn may not have been seen as the ideal fit for the group's criminal undertakings. He had a big heart, which kept him away from the gang's illegal activities. Still, while staying close to the family, he remained loyal and proved to be quite an intimidating figure on his part. Eventually, he got heartbroken to see Tommy siding with another young man, overlooking what he had contributed throughout the years of their co-existence.

It led Finn to betray the Peaky Blinders as he worked with a rival gang. Around this time, Duke asked Finn to take care of his friend, who was discovered to be a traitor. Eventually, Duke did the deed himself. In the end, the script established that there's plenty of bad blood between Finn and Duke. So, they will likely fight to seize power as Tommy likely returns to the base in the upcoming movie.

Based on what we see of them, Finn seems like a likely villain. However, Duke might end up turning to the bad side, nearly emulating Michael Corleone's arc from The Godfather, detailing his loss of innocence after getting corrupted by power and greed. Alas, we will get to know more about the plot when the Peaky Blinders movie comes out on Netflix.
