Zayn Malik postpones US tour after his bandmate Liam Payne's death

Liam Payne’s death has not only affected fans worldwide, but also his bandmates, with whom he shared a close bond. Due to the loss of his dear friend, singer Zayn Malik has decided to postpone the upcoming US tour.

Malik was all set to begin his ‘Stairway to the Sky Tour’ to San Francisco from October 23. But, according to his recent social media post, the dates have been pushed forward to January next year.

In his tweet on X, Malik mentioned the “heartbreaking loss” he has experienced after the sudden death of his friend and bandmate, Liam Payne. He added that this has led him to postpone the US tour which was scheduled to be held late in October. Sending his love, the One Direction singer assured his fans that their tickets will remain valid for the next rescheduled dates.

Zayn Malik’s ‘Stairway to the Sky Tour’ will be his first ever solo tour slated to be held in US covering cities like New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Washington DC. The tour was scheduled to end on 3 November.

A few days ago, the ‘Dusk till Dawn’ singer shared a post on Instagram on Liam Payne’s demise. He wrote that Liam was a sensible person and that he always had a deep respect for him besides their silly arguments. He had lost a brother and that he wished he could have got a chance to hug him and say goodbye for the very last time. He further added that he will always cherish the memories he has in his heart with him forever and hoped that he is at peace now.

Zayn Malik and Liam Payne became bandmates of the English-Irish band named One Direction after winning the X Factor music reality show in 2010. Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan were some other band members of the group. They rose to fame with some of the all time hits like “Live while we’re young”, “What makes you beautiful” and “Night Changes”.

Malik left the group in 2015 at the age of 22 due to solo projects. The group went on to perform together until they disbanded in 2016. They released five albums and performed four world tours during their time.

Liam Payne died after falling from the third floor of his hotel in Buenos Aires on October 16, 2024. Soon after his death, tributes started pouring in from his fans, friends and family members.

His ex - Danielle Peazer, Cheryl Cole, his sister Ruth, and Harry Styles were among the few close ones who offered their condolences to the pop sensation. Such tributes are a sign that Payne has indeed left a mark in the music industry.
