Singer and songwriter Zach Bryan has come under fire from Taylor Swift fans or ‘Swifties’ over plagiarism accusations. This happened after his breakup with partner Brianna ‘Chickenfry’ LaPaglia’s allegations of emotional abuse.

The origin of Bryan and Swiftie’s feud goes back to when the singer posted on X comparing Kanye West to Taylor Swift, favoring the former. He deleted the post later and clarified that he wrote it while he was drunk. As per reports, Zach Bryan took down his social media platform but the clarification post that he shared read,

“Guys I love Taylor, was listening to TTPD last night and thank you aimee came on and I drunkenly tweeted about Kanye. If anyone took it serious please know I love both artists a lot and think we’re in a really beautiful time of music.”

As per Rolling Stone, although tensions had initially faded, they flared up again on social media after LaPaglia discussed her allegations against Bryan on BFFs, the Barstool podcast she co-hosts with Josh Richards and Swift fan Dave Portnoy.

Swift's fans have responded by attempting to undermine Bryan's music, accusing him of copying Swift's songs.

Recently, TikTok has been flooded with these plagiarism claims. For example, the lead fiddle melody in Bryan's Let You Down slightly resembles the lead banjo melody in Swift's Should've Said No.

Moreover, the perceived resemblance between Bryan’s Pink Skies and Swift’s Betty seems to mostly involve similar elements like folk-inspired acoustic guitar picking and harmonica, which are common in many songs.

Additionally, a netizen suggested that Zach Bryan's collaboration with John Mayer, Better Days, was a calculated imitation of Swift's breakup song about Mayer, Dear John.

Zach Bryan reportedly shared Instagram stories featuring Taylor Swift’s songs

Vulture mentioned that on September 19, 2024, Zach Bryan posted a series of four Instagram Stories to clarify his comments, with the first three stories set to different Swift songs Fortnight, The Albatross, and Castles Crumbling.

He explained that he hadn’t intended to target Swift, saying, “I was drunkenly comparing two records and it came out wrong. My comments were purely about the music surrounding Ye.” Later, he added a reminder “Don’t drink and tweet. Don’t drink and tweet!!”

Zach Bryan expressed deep admiration for Swift, clarifying that he didn’t want anyone to think he lacked appreciation for her contributions to music. He acknowledged her impact as a “force of nature” throughout his upbringing and noted his respect for her accomplishments.

Adding that he never intended to come across as unkind or malicious, he reassured followers of his intentions. In a final message, Zach Bryan shared that this year had been challenging, and he planned to step back from impulsive tweeting, focus on completing his tour, and find a way to stay grounded amid everything.

Brianna Chickenfry also revealed in the November 7, 2024 episode of the BFF podcast that Zack Bryan offered her $12 million to sign an NDA to not talk about their relationship. She said,

“I want it to be known that I understand people break up and like that’s okay. This isn’t a breakup. I went through a traumatic year of emotional abuse and I got broken up with over the phone. He left, never saw me again.”

Zach Bryan announced their breakup on October 22, 2024, via an Instagram story. Chickenfry claimed that the singer called her to say it was all her fault.
