Ariana Grande is currently enjoying the success of her latest film Wicked. However, she might have made Taylor Swift’s fans or ‘Swifties’ a little unhappy.
Known for their loyalty towards the singer, Swifties seem to have overstepped after they targeted the Wicked actress for posing with entrepreneur and record executive Scooter Braun after he shared a photo on Instagram on November 24, 2024, and the actress thanked him in the comment section.
Taylor Swift and Braun have a history of feud after the original recordings of her songs were taken away from her without her consent. Nevertheless, netizens had a lot to say about the way Swifties reacted to the photo. One X user pointed out,
“So because Taylor doesn’t f*ck with scooter anymore that means Ariana should cut all ties with him.. not everything is about Taylor. God yall get worked up over the littlest thing stop acting like you care just to bring Ariana down he’s not her manger anymore.”
Social media users defended Ariana Grande saying she only showed gratitude to Scooter Braun.
“the world doesnt revolve around taylor swift LOL,” a social media user commented.
“Ariana didn't say anything wrong. she only showed gratitude to Scooter because he helped her and was by her side during the auditions and at the beginning of the recordings,” a netizen clarified.
“ariana can't thank the people she worked/used too work with?” an X user asked.
A section of netizens continued criticizing Ariana Grande for the gesture while many decided to boycott the movie.
“that’s why I feel sick when she pretends to support taylor, she couldn’t care less, she’s an enemy,” a person mentioned.
“That’s why swifties who listen to ariana are never true swifties,” an online user pointed out.
“No longer going to see wicked,” an internet user remarked.
Scooter Braun was Ariana Grande’s previous manager from whom she parted ways in 2023
Ariana joined Brandon Creed’s Good World Management in 2023 after she left her long-term manager Scooter Braun. A source shared with Billboard that Ariana Grande appreciated how Brandon Creed understood her, particularly as she navigated her projects in acting and music.
Another insider added that Creed prioritized her creativity and artistic vision, making him an ideal partner to support her ambitions for the new phase in her life and career. According to a Variety report from 2023, a source revealed that reports of Ariana Grande staying with Scooter Braun and HYBE were inaccurate, as she had decided to part ways with both.
Reportedly, she unfollowed Braun on social media last year. The source explained that while the two remained friends, Ariana Grande felt she had outgrown Braun’s management and was eager to explore new opportunities. Negotiations were ongoing due to contractual obligations, but the decision to move on was entirely hers.
Brandon Creed is known for managing artists like Bruno Mars and Lizzo. He launched Good World Management in July 2023 bringing clients Mark Ronson, Troye Sivan, and Charli XCX with him. In 2017, Creed merged The Creed Company with Irving and Jeffrey Azoff's Full Stop Management.
