Late rockstar, Ozzy Osbourne, in his memoir Last Rites, released on October 7, 2025, recalled his wife, Sharon Osbourne's, dismissal from the popular CBS chat show The Talk.

Among other things, the singer-songwriter shed light on the 2021 heated conversation between his wife and co-host Sheryl Underwood. Now with the release of the late Black Sabbath frontman's memoir, netizens are curious to find out why the 73-year-old Sharon Osbourne was fired from The Talk.

According to E! Online, Sharon Osbourne, who, besides being a renowned TV personality and businesswoman, is an author, was removed from the CBS chat show The Talk because of her 2021 heated on-air conversation with Sheryl Underwood, in which she defended British broadcaster Piers Morgan, who made a controversial statement regarding Meghan Markle claiming that she was lying about her mental health struggles.

Underwood found Sharon's comments racist, which eventually led to an internal investigation by CBS Network, after which Sharon Osbourne quit the show. As per E! Online, Sharon, after the whole incident, said:

"I've worked in this industry for 50 years, actually, 55. I didn't want that to be the end of my career, and I thought it was unfair."

During an appearance on Fox & Friends, Sharon Osbourne said:

"[Piers] is not racist. I'm not racist. But because he said something about somebody who is mixed race, is that the right word? He's deemed racist and that's not fair."

According to Entertainment Weekly, after quitting the chat show, Sharon put out a public apology in which she wrote:

"To anyone of color that I offended and/or to anyone that feels confused or let down by what I said, I am truly sorry. I panicked, felt blindsided, got defensive & allowed my fear & horror of being accused of being racist take over."

In the recently released Ozzy Osbourne memoir, Last Rites, the Prince of Darkness mentioned the dismissal of his wife, Sharon Osbourne, from the chat show The Talk. The late rockstar, who passed away on July 22, 2025, wrote in his memoir regarding the matter:

"The person she is convinced set her up - and I ain’t gonna name names, ’cos the last thing I want to do is stir all that shit up again - knew what they were doing, I think. And Sharon, when she feels like she’s being cornered, she’s gonna come out fighting."

Ozzy added:

"They ended up putting the show on pause for a couple of weeks while they did an ‘investigation’ - then two weeks later they pushed Sharon out. Just a few weeks earlier, when Sharon had been in hospital with Covid, the same people had gone on Instagram to say ‘Mrs O, we love you’. What a bunch of phoneys."

The late rockstar continued and wrote:

"I can tell you without any doubt, my wife is not a racist. It’s against everything she’s ever stood for. Anyone who’s spent more than five seconds with her knows that."

He went ahead and wrote:

"The people she worked with on that show knew that. To be stuck with that label, it was just f---ing wrong. Because you can never get a gig anywhere on TV once that’s what people think of you. It’s game over. They knew that when they took her down."
