Liam Payne and Kate Cassidy’s relationship is now under scrutiny after the One Direction member’s tragic death. Kate, a fashion and lifestyle influencer, left Argentina for Miami two days prior, explaining that she didn't enjoy staying in one place for extended periods. However, Payne stayed back to meet his bandmate Niall Horan who is touring the country as part of the Latin American tour.

Cassidy had been posting about her time spent in Argentina on TikTok where she was seen riding horses and trying different delicacies. One of the photos allegedly had Liam Payne’s arm. Taking to her TikTok on October 14, 2024, Kate Cassidy said,
“Honestly, I love South America, but I hate staying in one place for too long. And we were supposed to be there for, like, five days, turned into two weeks.”
Reportedly, the duo planned to stay in Argentina for five days but ended up staying for two weeks. The couple had an on-and-off relationship since 2022. In May 2024, they briefly separated but were seen together again in June 2024. From that point until his death, Liam Payne and Kate Cassidy had been together.
Initial reports indicated that Payne might have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of his death. Hotel witnesses reported erratic behavior, including smashing a laptop, which led staff to escort him back to his room.
His death has resurfaced concerns about his long struggle with addiction, a challenge he had publicly addressed, having recently celebrated six months of sobriety after completing a rehab program.

As per reports, Liam Payne posted a video on Snapchat almost an hour before his death in which he recorded himself and the view outside a window. The singer filmed himself having breakfast with Kate Cassidy. He said,
“Children, it’s a lovely day here in Argentina. This is the breakfast table.”
He continued,
“Just enjoying coffee and breakfast even though it’s like 1 PM. Today, we ride. We are gonna ride some horses. I think I am going to be playing Polo again which is going to put me out of action for about six weeks. Honestly, Polo out of everything I have done sportswise, not that I am like taking up Polo professionally by the way. I am just like I had to go for some fun.”
Liam Payne expressed that playing polo was particularly challenging, and the physical strain on his back and neck from using the mallet caused significant discomfort.
Despite this, he mentioned they were having a good time at a friend's house. He also shared his concern for everyone in Florida affected by Hurricane Milton, noting that it was frightening to witness from afar.
In the video, Payne was telling his partner that it was rude to put a hat on the table, asking whether it was her hat. Kate Cassidy then said they slept in every day until at least 12, calling themselves ‘losers.’
