Diddy has been hit with yet another lawsuit, adding to his myriad of legal troubles. This time, according to AllHipHop, DeWitt Gilmore is suing the disgraced mogul and more for allegedly physically assaulting him just outside a club in New York in 1996.

The lawsuit was filed in a New York federal court on Sunday, and Gilmore is seeking $5 million in restitution for "emotional distress, physical harm, lost opportunities, and reputational damage."

Diddy, also known as Sean Combs, was arrested in September over allegations of s*xual misconduct and racketeering, among others.

DeWitt Gilmore Diddy "aggressively chased" him into what could have been a "deadly ambush"

The documents obtained by AllHipHop allege the following:

"On a night in the summer of 1996, Plaintiff DeWitt Gilmore was assaulted by Defendant Sean Combs and a group of his associates, including his bodyguard, on a street in New York City after exiting a club. Plaintiff, in the company of his friends Lance Calfe and Rico, approached his vehicle, an Isuzu Trooper, parked near the club."

It goes on:

"As Plaintiff and his friends prepared to leave, Defendant Combs and his associates pulled up in a gold convertible with Defendant Combs positioned in the passenger seat and his bodyguard driving. Defendant Combs initiated a verbal confrontation with Plaintiff, taunting him with derogatory language and escalating the situation with threats of violence. His words, including ‘What’s up, b####?’ were intended to provoke and intimidate Plaintiff.”

Furthermore, Diddy and his companions, all of whom were armed, pulled over and barricaded his car. Allegedly, shots were fired and Gilmore narrowly escaped. The document goes on to say that the confrontation quickly went downhill:

"Defendant Combs and his associates blocked Plaintiff’s car, creating a sense of immediate danger. Defendant Combs’ associates brandished firearms and shots were fired. Fearing for his life, Plaintiff Gilmore, with Lance Calfe and Rico as witnesses, were aggressively chased through the dark city streets and managed to evade the scene by accelerating through traffic, narrowly escaping a potentially deadly ambush.”

It remains unclear if he or his friends were wounded that night. Gilmore claims that he never pressed charges, citing fear of violent retribution and possible harassment.

However, when he reconnected with Lance Calfe, he changed his mind. Supposedly, their meet-up “brought forth new insight and testimonial evidence surrounding the events of that night.”

Gilmore also contends that Calfe's testimony was “significant enough to reopen the case beyond the usual statute of limitations due to the unique circumstances of intimidation and safety concerns that delayed earlier action."

When USA Today probed for a response, Diddy's reps responded with the following:

"As we've said before, Mr. Combs cannot respond to every new publicity stunt, even in response to claims that are facially ridiculous. Mr. Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process. In court, the truth will prevail: that these accusations are pure fiction."

Diddy is currently being detained in the Metropolitan Detention Center, where he awaits his day in court.
