The Vampire Diaries alum Candice Accola King, commonly known as Candice King, is no longer with The Fray guitarist Joe King. The 38-year-old actress met the 44-year-old rock star at a Super Bowl event in 2013 and was introduced to each other by Nina Dobrev, King's co-star in The Vampire Diaries.

Candice and Joe got hitched in 2014 in New Orleans. They had a French Quarter-themed wedding. Joe, who was already a father to Ava and Elisa, whom he shares with his previous wife, welcomed a daughter, Florence, with Candice in January 2016. Eventually, in 2020, they had a second child, another daughter, whom they named Josephine.

The netizens and fans guessed that something was wrong between the two when they noticed that Candice and Joe had removed posts of each other from their respective social media handles. After being married for seven years, it was Candice who filed for divorce from Joe on April 29, 2022. According to People, Candice and Joe separated due to "irreconcilable differences."

However, no other specific reasons were announced as to why they got separated. Candice King, in January 2023, on the Scrubbing In podcast hosted by Becca Tilly and Tanya Rad, talked about some big changes and anguish in her personal life. Since their divorce, Candice has moved to Nashville, and Joe shifted to Tennessee's Brentwood.

The Vampire Diaries and The Originals co-stars Candice King and Steven Krueger are now officially engaged. After working on the same TV shows for quite some time, Candice hinted at their romance on social media when she posted a video in December 2023 in which both of them were seen kissing.

However, Candice took to Instagram to break the news of her engagement to Krueger on May 14, 2025. While Candice claimed that the two have been engaged for a couple of weeks, she shared a bunch of photos in which they can be seen having an amazing time, sipping cocktails at Martha My Dear, a cocktail bar in Nashville, with a caption that read:

"I think 38 just might be my favorite year yet. A couple of weeks ago @stevenkrueger gave me the best gift of all when he asked me to marry him. The privilege of getting older is much sweeter knowing I get to share it with you Steven. Thank you for asking me to dance through life with you.
