Tenisha Warner has come out publicly for the first time as the recently widowed wife of actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner. The pair kept their personal life largely out of the media's focus. She took to social media on September 12 to post a carousel on Instagram as a tribute to her late husband.
The first Image on the slide is of the happy couple on what is presumably their wedding day. Tenisha Warner’s deeply heartfelt caption shed light on her feelings on the anniversary of her husband’s tragic passing due to a drowning accident in Costa Rica.
“Tomorrow marks our anniversary — and my heart is wide open. For the first time, I’m sharing a glimpse of the love that began it all. I can still hear my husband’s laugh, still feel the way he made room for every part of me — every tear, every dream.”
As a means of honoring her late husband’s legacy and name, Tenisha Warner has announced the launch of two separate initiatives with the intent to carry his spirit forward alongside their daughter: River & Ember and the Warner Family Foundation.

In the same September 12 Instagram post, Tenisha Warner included a second image in the carousel, a written message that appeared to officially launch both the River & Ember program and the Warner Family Foundation.
“Today, in his honor, my daughter and I are launching River & Ember and officially opening The Warner Family Foundation. Together we carry the legacy my husband and I began—one that nurtures children’s inner light and gives young artists the freedom to create outside the lines.”
The statement continued,
“This is love, still moving. Still making. Still carrying us forward.”
River & Ember is a platform that offers techniques to help parents with children struggling through grief and anxiety. Their official website touches on their method, which encourages parents to embrace
"the child’s emotional rhythm, strengthening their nervous system, and inviting parents into moments of calm, presence, and deep connection.”
The Warner Family Foundation will operate as a separate entity, built around Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s passion for entertainment, self-reflection, and the arts. Its mission is to create pathways for young students pursuing higher education in the arts, ensuring they have access to meaningful opportunities and support.
