Who is OMB Peezy? Rapper reportedly targeted in North Carolina nightclub shooting

According to reports, early on Sunday morning, April 13, 2025, rapper OMB Peezy was shot at outside a nightclub in Raleigh, North Carolina. More than 20 bullets were fired at his car as he and his group tried to escape the site of the event, which happened soon after his performance at the StarBar. No injuries were reported. Authorities are investigating the incident as an aggravated assault.

OMB Peezy is an up-and-coming Rapper in the Southern rap scene. Born in Mobile, Alabama, he is known for his rough and melodious style. He has a huge fan following because of his music. Peezy, 28, recently released an 18-track album at the beginning of this year. He has collaborated with artists GloRilla, Mozzy, Montana 700, Skilla Baby, and Boosie Badazz.

The incident happened outside the StarBar in East Raleigh at approximately four in the morning, according to CBS 17. Two days before the shooting, he, along with rapper FBLMANNY, released their new track, titled, New Dallas. He was promoting his most recent work in Raleigh when the incident occurred.

According to witnesses, an eruption of bullets occurred as clubgoers were leaving the venue, resulting in chaos in the parking lot. The main target of the more than 20 gunshots was OMB Peezy's Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.

“I would say about 4 a.m. is when we heard shots fired outside the club, and everybody pretty much ran. We couldn’t really tell where the shots were coming from.”

A witness informed the outlet about this incident.

HipHopDX reports that during the altercation, stray gunfire hit at least four additional cars. As Peezy's driver attempted to escape, the van struck other cars and fell into a ditch. Despite the remarkable escape, no one was injured in the gunfire or the subsequent crash.

The event is being looked at as an instance of severe assault by the Raleigh Police Department. No arrests have been made as of April 17, and the motive's specifics are still unknown. According to XXL Magazine, neither the police nor the rapper's crew has made an official comment or recognized any new developments in the case.

While many artists and fans are relieved that no one was hurt, the incident's aggressive character has raised worries. It's thought that OMB Peezy could have been the target of the attack because of how serious it was.


OMB Peezy's brush with violence

OMB Peezy has already been implicated in events involving forearms. According to reports by HipHopDX, the rapper was previously arrested in 2021 for both possessing a firearm while committing a felony and aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon.

Peezy described how police unexpectedly arrived at his house in an interview with HipHopDX on the 2021 arrest:

“I was just trying to figure out what the fuck was going on, why the police at my door for. Because if I done did anything, I would have been gone. If I was guilty of anything, you wouldn’t have caught me at my muthaf*ckin’ house, straight the f*ck up.”

The event that led to the rapper's arrest occurred on February 21, 2021, when he and Roddy Ricch were working together on the music video for the song "4 Da Gang."

A gunshot at the Atlanta set left three people wounded. In response to rumours that Peezy had a feud with the other artists. He said,

“I don’t have no smoke with Roddy Ricch… They love me over there in Roddy Ricch hood; I love them back too.”

It took the rapper more than a year to be cleared of the allegations.
