Who is Mia Tyler? All about Steven Tyler’s daughter as she recalls first meeting with Aerosmith frontman at concert

Mia Tyler is the 46-year-old daughter of Aerosmith’s frontman, Steven Tyler. She is also the paternal half-sister of the Lord of the Rings actress Liv Tyler. In 2008, Mia Tyler released her autobiography called ‘Creating Myself: How I Learned That Beauty Comes in All Shapes, Sizes, and Packages, Including Me’

In the book, she recalls that her dad drove her mom to Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, near Lebanon, when her contractions began. Mia Tyler was born to actress Cyrinda Foxe and Steven Tyler on December 22, 1978. She was delivered some thirteen hours after her mom’s first labour pain. When she first arrived, she was six pounds, fourteen and a half ounces, and was twenty inches in length. Mia also reminisced that those first few months were the happiest time of her relationship with her dad.

In a podcast episode on the Sibling Revelry with Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson, Liv shared about the first time she met her younger sister Mia Tyler. The half-sisters recalled growing up separately in New Hampshire and Maine until they were eight and nine years old, when their mothers, Bebe Buell and Cyrinda Foxe, took them to the same Aerosmith concert.

Mia Tyler then shared

"I remember there were no kids backstage. So we played hard that night. And we were at this VIP area, outside of the green rooms, and we were just like, you know, doing our eight and nine-year-old thing, and this fan lady came up and she was like 'oh my god, you girls are so cute. Are you guys sisters?'"

Liv later shared

"I just remember standing there watching them play, looking and seeing this girl who looked exactly like me. Like we literally had the same outfit on. We had both had perms, like spiral perms, pink frosty lipstick. We were both wearing a Aerosmith concert t-shirt with black leggings and Reebok high top sneakers. I looked and I was like, wait, that's me. It was really weird. I was literally like looking in the mirror seeing double."

Liv also shared her memory when she first came to know that Steven Tyler was her dad

"I looked at my mom, and she just started crying. My mom was bawling, and I was like, 'is Steven my dad?' and she just burst. She took me to a bench and we sat on at an outdoor amphitheater, and she told me the whole story in the most sincere, beautiful way."

Mia Tyler shares about her childhood:

In her memoir, Mia shares that her mom had aborted two pregnancies with her dad after having her. She later explains that she feels stronger now, knowing she was the only pregnancy kept, which gave her a type of assurance that she was supposed to be here and that her life was supposed to mean something.

Mia later explains how being a rock and roll guy affected her dad’s relationship with Cyrinda Foxe. Steven Tyler hit the road with his band while he left Foxe to take care of their daughter. She then writes that this behaviour did not promote the sort of secure feelings, Foxe could have craved as a new mother.

Mia is now a full-time mom to her son Axton (Axe for short).
