Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay are now married.

The Olympic medalist is the son of Mark and Caroline Peaty and had once publicly praised his parents for their often-overlooked contributions. Speaking in a report published by OpenLearn, Peaty had said,

"Parents are the unsung heroes of our sport."

The remarks contrasted sharply with the circumstances surrounding his wedding to Holly Ramsay, daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. The couple tied the knot at Bath Abbey. Behind the scenes, however, most of Peaty’s family, including his parents, were missing from the wedding.

A source later told The Sun that the exclusion had been intentional.

"This was the Ramsays' plan all along. They wanted Adam's family gone and they have succeeded. You'd think that as parents, Gordon and Tana would have a bit more compassion towards Caroline, Mark and the family," the source said.

Caroline Peaty previously spoke candidly about the sacrifices she made while supporting her son’s career in swimming, long before reports of a family rift emerged. In the report published by OpenLearn, she explained that she and her husband insisted that Adam learn to swim from a young age.

“We forced him to swim and we have a strong belief that all children should swim because it’s a life-saving skill,” explained Caroline Peaty.

At 14, Adam joined City of Derby Swimming Club, a decision that required relentless travel and commitment. With Adam’s father unable to drive, Caroline took on the responsibility almost alone.

“I’d get up at four in the morning, drive him 40 minutes to Derby, sit and wait two hours while he was training, or go to Tesco, then drive him back again and do a full day’s work as a nursery manager. Then we’d do it again in the evening,” she shared.

A 2024 BBC report detailed how Peaty’s medal-winning career was accompanied by struggles away from the pool. After pulling out of the British championships in 2023, he focused on his mental health following periods of depression and problems with alcohol. Mrs Peaty said the time away allowed her son to reconnect with himself.

"He was more like our Adam - he was like the son we sort of lost along the journey," she told the BBC.

She also reflected on how swimming once consumed his life,

"He [used to be] very focused, very insular and not very much for family. Swimming always came first, which it [had] to do."

Speaking to BBC Derby, she described watching her son struggle as deeply painful.

"Knowing your child is suffering no matter how old they are is difficult," she shared.

Family feud overshadowed Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay’s wedding, reports claimed

Behind the lavish wedding of Holly Ramsay and Adam Peaty were reports of a family dispute. According to The Daily Mail, almost every member of the groom’s family, including Caroline Peaty, was excluded from the ceremony, amid allegations of snobbery and classism. The outlet reported that Caroline Peaty was said to be “beside herself” with grief.

Speaking from the house where Adam Peaty grew up, Caroline told the publication,

"I'm not going to be hurt like this again".

She also said she felt as though Holly and Adam Peaty "have cut my heart out".

As reported by The Daily Mail, the tension reached a peak shortly before the ceremony. Moments before Adam Peaty walked into the abbey holding the hand of his 5-year-old son George, he was sent a text message by his aunt Louise, who had also not been invited to the wedding. In the message, she wrote (via The Mirror):

"I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through and despite it all she loves you still. Shame on you both. Shame. Remember on this, your happiest day, and on each anniversary of your happiest day, that you hurt your mum so deeply her soul screams."

The report stated that the roots of the family conflict dated back to September 2024, when Adam Peaty and Holly did not invite wider members of the Peaty family to their engagement party. Caroline was also reportedly excluded from Holly’s hen do at Soho Farmhouse in the Cotswolds last month, despite the presence of the bride’s mother, Tana Ramsay, and friends including Victoria Beckham.

As per a report shared by Us Weekly, Holly announced her engagement to Adam Peaty on Instagram in September 2024.

“I am marrying my best friend. I truly cannot put into words how I am feeling right now, I still [remember] how big my smile was the morning I got home from my first date with you. Thank you for letting the little girl inside of me feel loved, seen and happier than ever.”
