Soviet and Russian actress Vera Alentova has died at the age of 83.

As of this writing, details like her cause of death remain unclear. However, EADaily has reported that she was at her friend and colleague Anatoly Lobotsky's funeral when she fell ill. Paramedics were called to the scene, and she was rushed to the hospital on a stretcher.

She leaves behind her daughter, Yulia Menshova, whom she shared with her late husband, Vladimir Menshova. She met the latter during her time in college at the Moscow Art Theater School and got married to him before she graduated in 1965.

Although she made her debut in cinema with the film Flying Days, her reputation was solidified when she landed the leading role in Menshova's Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears (1980). She also starred in two more of his productions: What a Mess! (1995) and The Envy of Gods (2000). Menshova died in 2021.

Vladimir Menshov was a Soviet and Russian actor and director. He was most known for showcasing the working-class life in Russia in his films. While he mostly worked as an actor, his directing credits are better known, especially for his 1980 project with his wife, which later earned the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

His and Vera Alentova's daughter, Yulia Menshova, followed in their footsteps and is also a Russian actress and TV show host. She graduated from a theatrical academy and worked at the Moscow Art Theater, during which time she held several leading roles across various movies.

However, she eventually segued into the television studio as an editor before she got tapped to host her own show. She has reportedly been compared to Oprah Winfrey in her career and for her women's talk show on TV6, Ya sama (I'll Do It Myself).

As of this writing, she has yet to issue a statement about her mother's demise. The Pushkin Moscow Drama Theater has since confirmed Vera Alentova's demise in a post on its website that reads:

"A great grief has happened… Vera Valentinovna Alentova died. She served at the Pushkin Theater for 60 years. Our grief is boundless."

Details about Vera Alentova's funeral services are also currently unknown. The late actress' other film credits also include "Tomorrow was the War" (1987), "Shirley—Myrli" (1995), "Envy of the Gods" (2000) and the TV series "Balzac's Age, or All the Men of Your ..." (2004).
