Olivia Rodrigo sent fans into a frenzy with a not-so-subtle website refresh that hints at the next chapter of her career.

On Monday, Jan. 5, the pop sensation's official website transformed into a mock driver's license renewal appointment card scheduled for Jan. 8 at 9:00 a.m. PST, coinciding with the fifth anniversary of her eponymous hit debut single. Fans also have the option to register their email to get updates on the mystery project.

Further, following the tease, Olivia Rodrigo's fans are now speculating the much-anticipated arrival of OR3, or the songstress's third studio album.

If it materializes, then it will be Rodrigo's first release since Guts (spilled) in March 2024, as well as her single Can't Catch Me Now, unveiled in November 2023 as the official soundtrack for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.

In an interview with Uproxx, Olivia Rodrigo reflected on crafting the heartbreak anthem.

"When I came up with 'Drivers License', I was going through a heartbreak that was so confusing to me, so multifaceted. Putting all those feelings into a song made everything seem so much simpler and clearer—and at the end of the day, I think that's the whole purpose of songwriting. There’s nothing like sitting at the piano in my bedroom and writing a really sad song. It’s truly my favorite thing in the world."

Olivia Rodrigo's driver's licence achievements, critical reception

Rodrigo's smash-hit driver's license was released in 2021. A track off her debut album, SOUR, the pop star penned the pop ballad alongside producer Dan Nigro, where she incorporated poignant lyrics with the "multifaceted" feelings she weathered after a breakup.

driver's license would then rise as one of the biggest songs in 2021, per multiple outlets, such as AP News and Billboard. The Atlantic also dubbed it "The Breakout Pop Song of the Year," while Clash called the song a "sensational pop statement, an impeccable melodic moment right from the off."

Vogue Scandinavia included driver's license on its "12 Best Songs of 2021," praising Rodrigo:

"Capturing the essence of an entire generation's perception of youth, anxiety, and teen love — all in a blue and purple tint — Ms Rodrigo set herself on the map as one of the 21st century's most prolific songwriters and storytellers."

In fact, Rodrigo's breakout was included in Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Songs of All Time," published in 2024.
