Actress and filmmaker Justine Bateman publicly extends her support to President-elect Donald Trump. Unlike her fellow Hollywood celebrities who have campaigned for Kamala Harris in the US presidential elections 2024, Bateman is verbal about how she is exhausted by cancel culture.
Bateman has long been vocal about her thoughts on X (formerly Twitter). On social media, she has criticized Joe Biden's presidential tenure over the last four years and celebrated Trump's return to the White House.
She recently told USA Today that she is over cancel culture.
"Trying to shut down everybody, even wanting to discuss things that are going on in our society, has had a bad result."
Bateman continued -
"And we saw in the election results that more people than not are done with it. That's why I say it's over," the 58-year-old added.
Justine Bateman also believes that people are entering " a new era," and she is excited about it. She asserted that "everybody has the right to freely live their lives the way they want, so long as they don't infringe upon somebody else's ability to live their lives as freely as they want." "And if you just hold that, then you've got it," she added.
According to Bateman, during the COVID-19 pandemic, society excluded those who expressed a wrong opinion. She believes that the hostility in society intensified at a level where people lost "their jobs, their friends, their social status, their privacy."
"They were being doxxed. And I found that incredibly un-American."
She also celebrated Elon Musk taking over Twitter.
"The air kind of went out of the Woke Party balloon and I was like, 'OK, that's a nice feeling.' And then now with Trump winning, and this particular team that he's got around him right now, I really felt the air go out."
Justine Bateman also took to her X handle and celebrated Donald Trump's win. In one of her tweets, she wrote,
"Decompressing from walking on eggshells for the past four years."
She continued the thread and claimed that the past four years were "intolerable."
"I have found the last four years to be an almost intolerable period. A very un-American period in that any questioning, any opinions, any likes or dislikes were held up to a very limited list of “permitted positions” in order to assess acceptability."
Throughout the thread, she penned why she was disappointed with Biden's tenure.
Are Justine Bateman and Jason Bateman related?
For the unversed, Justine Bateman is also the only sister of actor Jason Bateman. The two siblings have a three-year age gap but a considerable difference of opinion in politics.
While Justine has thoroughly supported the Republican Party, Jason endorsed Kamala Harris in the elections. However, it is still unclear if they are still close in real life.
