Liam Payne reportedly spoke about Tom Parker, a member of the British boy band The Wanted, just weeks before he met his demise. According to Us Weekly, Alexandria Isola revealed that Payne “was glad” that he went to Parker's funeral and called him "a really nice guy." Tom Parker succumbed to a brain tumor in March 2022 at the age of 33.

Recanting what Payne said to her when they met at Greenacres Bowl near Wellington, Florida, on September 22, Isola told Us Weekly,

"He [was] like, ‘You know, with The Wanted, I just went to [Tom’s] funeral and he was a really nice guy.' You can tell it really touched him. It really hit me hard; the fact that he was talking about going to Tom’s funeral. And now he just passed right after I met him.”

Tom Parker said he was "over the moon" when his brain cancer diagnosis was "under control"

Tom Parker was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma in October 2020. That month, he took to Instagram to share the update with his fans, noting that he was "diagnosed with a Brain Tumour" and was "already undergoing treatment" by then. He revealed that the band, his wife and family, were "devastated", but were "gonna fight this all the way." He ended the post with a plea for all fans to support him.

The singer would sporadically share updates on Instagram, and in November 2021, he took to Instagram yet again to share some happy news:

"I’m sat here with tears in my eyes as i tell you. We’ve got my brain tumour under control. We had the results from my latest scan…and I’m delighted to say it is STABLE. 😭😭😊😊Such a mix of emotions . We couldn’t ask for any more really at this point; a year or so in to this journey. Honestly over the moon. We can sleep a little easier tonight. Thank you for all your love and support over the last 12+ months. Love from Me,Kelsey, Aurelia & Bo."

However, by March 2022, his wife took to Instagram to share that Tom Parker had since passed. She penned a heartfelt tribute to him:

"It is with the heaviest of hearts that we confirm Tom passed away peacefully earlier today with all of his family by his side. Our hearts are broken, Tom was the centre of our world and we can’t imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence. We are truly thankful for the outpouring of love and support and ask that we all unite to ensure Tom’s light continues to shine for his beautiful children. Thank you to everyone who has supported in his care throughout, he fought until the very end. I’m forever proud of you."

Tom Parker is survived by his wife, Kelce, as well as his daughter, Aurelia, and son, Bodhi.

Tom Parker's bandmate, Max George, reveals Liam Payne was "extremely supportive" and "amazing"

Following the revelation of Tom Parker's cancer diagnosis, the band pulled together an event, Stand Up To Cancer, at the Royal Albert Hall to raise funds for him. In speaking about Liam Payne's contributions to the same, Max George, 36, a member of the band, said on October 17 at the Avalon Theatre in Canada,

“He was the first person, the first artist to put his hand up and say that he wanted to perform [at the event], which we’ll never forget. [Payne] was amazing … and even after Tom passed, you know he came to Tom’s funeral, and he was extremely supportive to all of us, even though we hadn’t really been sort of friends. We knew each other up until Tom [died]. We became friends and he really, really supported us and we’ll never ever forget that.”

As seen in a video shared on X, he shared,

"Yesterday, we found out the tragic news about someone that we knew personally — Liam Payne— and yeah and obviously shockingly heartbreaking, Our thoughts and prayers go out to him, his friends, family and fans all over the world.”

As People Magazine reported, George and fellow bandmate Siva Kaneswaran nudged the audience into a round of applause for the departed, which lasted over a minute.

The day after Payne's passing, George took to Instagram to honor the Strip That Down singer, penning that he was "absolutely wonderful in terms of support when Tom fell ill, performing at the Royal Albert Hall with us for Stand Up To Cancer."

He continued, revealing that he "supported [him] a lot personally after Tom passed" and that he will "never forget that."

Liam Payne plunged to his death from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 16. According to Us Weekly, he succumbed to injuries involving "internal and external hemorrhage," as well as "multiple traumas."

Payne leaves behind his seven-year-old son, Bear, who he shares with ex Cheryl Cole.
