Bill Murray was recently asked about Geena Davis’ allegations. The interviewer was in the middle of finishing the question about the accusations her Quick Change co-star made when Murray said:
“Outrageous!”
Referencing the misconduct allegations made by Geena Davis and others, Murray added:
“When someone has a, like, an episode like mine on this ‘Being Mortal’ thing, the world goes searching for more… more proof that this person is a monster… an absolute monster.”
He mentioned interacting with “hundreds of thousands of people over 40–50 years” and suggested that such accusations are not representative of all interactions. The allegations, which the interviewer mentioned, first emerged in October 2022. Geena Davis had released her memoir, Dying of Politeness.
The Stuart Little actress claimed that Murray screamed at her in front of about "300" people on the set of Quick Change. She also alleged that her co-star insisted on using a massager on her during her audition for the role, despite her multiple refusals.
According to People, the Oscar-winning actress wrote in her memoir:
“I said no multiple times [for the massage], but he wouldn't relent. I would have had to yell at him and cause a scene if I was to get him to give up trying to force me to do it; the other men in the room did nothing to make it stop. I realized with profound sadness that I didn't yet have the ability to withstand this onslaught — or to simply walk out.”
Geena Davis wrote about the incident on the Quick Change set when she was late, after Murray allegedly tracked her down to her trailer:
“There were easily more than 300 people there — and Murray was still screaming at me, for all to see and hear”
In 1990, Geena Davis and Bill Murray also did a dual interview on The Arsenio Hall Show for their movie Quick Change. In 2022, the actress called her experience of that interview “awful.”
Geena Davis also recounted her dual interview with Bill Murray on The Arsenio Hall Show as “uncomfortable”

The Quick Change co-stars appeared on comedian Arsenio Hall’s late-night talk show to promote their film. In her book, the actress described the experience of the dual interview as “uncomfortable,” as Murray was seen stroking Davis’ arm multiple times. At one point, the Charlie’s Angels star even tries to pull down the strap of his co-star’s dress before she readjusts it.
The video depicting Bill Murray’s alleged actions is still available on YouTube and was mentioned by Geena Davis during an interview with The i Paper in 2022. The 69-year-old actress told the reporter:
“Oh you saw? Isn’t it stunning? [shaking her head] It’s awful.”
In the 1990 interview, Geena Davis recounted her audition while talking to the host. Davis told Hall about Murray insisting on using a massager on her back, while the latter corrected her and called it “the thumper.” During her chat with The i Paper, the actress was reminded of the same, when she reacted:
“I did? [on recollecting her first audition for Quick Change] I forgot that. Telling it that way [with a smile on her face], just as a humorous anecdote, I must have thought, ‘Well, it’s ultimately funny, or makes a good story,’ when in fact it was so devastating.”
Apart from Geena Davis, Murray has faced misconduct accusations from Rob Schneider, Seth Green, Lucy Liu, Richard Dreyfuss, Chevy Chase, and more.
Bill Murray faced s**ual misconduct allegations in 2022

The Grand Budapest Hotel actor was involved with the Aziz Ansari-directed Being Mortal in 2022. During the production of the canceled comedy-drama, Murray faced allegations of s**ual misconduct by a female crew member, who had reportedly complained about his actions.
According to Deadline, the studio suspended the production in the wake of a complaint against Murray’s inappropriate on-set behavior. Puck News reported that Bill Murray had to settle the complaint by paying $100,000.
In a recent interview with The New York Times, Bill Murray himself confirmed the allegations:
“I was wearing a mask, and I gave her a kiss, and she was wearing a mask. You know, it was like… It wasn’t like I touched her, but it was just… I gave her a kiss through a mask, through another mask to another person. And it wasn’t… she wasn't a stranger.”
He shared that he was bothered by the incident, as it shattered the film. Murray also said:
“It was a great disappointment because I thought I knew someone, and I did not. And I thought it was… I certainly thought it was light. And I thought it was funny."
The Groundhog Day actor proclaimed that kissing someone with a mask on was "stupid."
