Beverley Mitchell, the actress famous for playing Lucy Camden on 7th Heaven, made headlines recently after she embraced being a good friend rather than a “fun” one. As per a report shared by The List, 7th Heaven was the reason multiple members of its cast experienced stardom, including Jessica Biel and Beverley Mitchell.

Beverley continued her career after the show. In 2007, she decided to branch out of acting and debuted her self-titled country music album. Later, in an interview with Media Mikes, she looked back at her attempted music career.

"It was such an experience. I equal it to being naked in front of everybody and just showing your soul and everything you have to the world, [m]y time has been taken away from music. But that's all right," she shared.

Beverley continued her personal and professional life. She married her longtime boyfriend, Michael Cameron, in 2008 and is now a mum to three children. Over the years, Beverley Mitchell starred in The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Saw II, Hollywood Darlings, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, and more.

But it was in 2024 that fans got to hear more from her as she launched Catching Up With the Camdens, a 7th Heaven rewatch podcast, alongside her former co-stars Mackenzie Rosman and David Gallagher.

Beverley Mitchell built a personality where she never shied away from introspection. It was only last year that she publicly spoke about her struggles with self-image. Recently, the Rock and Roll Christmas actress opened up about friendship and the role she played in other people’s lives.

As reported by Us Weekly, Beverley Mitchell shared her thoughts in an Instagram Reel uploaded on January 5, framing the year ahead as a moment of personal clarity.

“So this year is about discovery for me,” she declared.

The Right on Track actress accepted that she had often felt sidelined socially.

“And one of the things that I have always struggled with is that I am the friend that doesn’t get invited to the fun things,” she explained.

Beverley Mitchell admitted she had never considered herself suited for large social gatherings.

“I’m not the fun friend. I am not the friend that you wanna take on vacation or go out with your girls or be in a big group for a really long time,” she said.

For years, those realizations left her feeling hurt. That changed after a conversation with what she described as a “very wise” friend.

“She said, ‘Are you comfortable in groups?’ and I said, ‘No, not particularly, I like one-on-one attention,’” Mitchell recalled.

The friend suggested that her absence from certain invitations may have been rooted in consideration rather than rejection.

“She knows that you like one-on-one conversations,” Mitchell reflected.

She added that surface-level interactions were never where she thrived.

“I’m not good at small talk. I like to get deep. I like to really know what’s going on in someone’s life,” she said.

Mitchell shared that this understanding helped her recognize where she showed up best.

“That is the friend that I am, that is how I show up best for my friends.”

She said that embracing that role felt right to her:

“I’m the friend that you call when stuff gets sticky, we all need those kind of friends,” Mitchell shared.

She closed by acknowledging that a smaller circle felt right for her.

“I am also the girl that doesn’t have a gazillion friends and that’s OK too,” she said.

Beverley Mitchell spoke candidly about not feeling like herself in an Instagram video:

As per a report shared by People on August 7, 2025, Beverley Mitchell shared a confessional video on Instagram. She opened up about why a few of her videos “had filters on it.”

“Lately, I have not been feeling super great about myself. I've definitely been really hard on myself and just not feeling that I recognize my body. There's a lot of things happening,” she shared.

Mitchell spoke her heart out and explained that she isn’t sharing her struggles to gain sympathy or “any kind of feedback.” She explained in the caption for the video that she had

“Decided to come clean and be super vulnerable. To all those who don’t feel themselves or are struggling in any way! I hear you! Decided to make some changes and going to share because it’s time I take better care of myself!"

She emphasized that point in her video, adding that it was meant

"For anyone else who feels the same way. Just know that I see you, I hear you, I feel you, and I am with you."
