Rapper Young Thug has been released after receiving a 15-year probation sentence. He pleaded guilty in Georgia to multiple charges, including possession of drugs and firearms. He entered a no-contest plea on other charges, such as racketeering, which alleged he was the leader of the gang Young Slime Life.

Thug has been in custody for the past two years, following his and 27 others' arrest in May 2022 under a 56-count indictment for alleged RICO violations in Georgia. Celebrities reacted to his release on social media platforms.

Rapper Travis Scott took to his Instagram story to share a photo with Young Thug where he wrote, ‘bruddda otw home.’ Metro Boomin also shared a couple of photos on his Instagram stories.

Similarly, rapper T.I. posted on Instagram a carousel, which he captioned:

"Welcome Home lil bruddah. It’s been too long... Time to get back to it!!! #KingJeffrey @thuggerthugger1."

Kevin Liles, CEO of 300 Entertainment, took to his Instagram, where he wrote,

“On God, Words can’t express the incredible happiness and relief I feel to learn of Jeffery’s freedom. There will be a time to discuss the criminalization of hip-hop lyrics and the use of bond denial as a weapon against defendants, but in this moment everyone should feel nothing but joy that this amazing artist and even better man can hug his children, parents, siblings, and other loved ones tonight.”

Young Thug’s girlfriend said it was more than she expected

Mariah the Scientist, the rapper’s girlfriend, responded to the news with gratitude, expressing that the outcome exceeded their expectations. She thanked Judge Paige Whitaker for allowing them to move forward and acknowledged the hard work of attorneys Brian Steel and Keith Adams and everyone involved in the case.

Mariah expressed heartfelt appreciation for the support of fans and everyone who believed in them, noting how this has changed both her and Young Thug's lives. Rapper Kanye West also shared the news, although his post has been taken down. He wrote,

“Young Thug will go home today on time served and 15 years probation.”

Kid Cudi also shared his thoughts on Young Thug’s release in a series of tweets, expressing gratitude for the higher powers that safely brought the multi-platinum rapper back home. In the first X post, Kid Cudi wrote:

“God is good!!” before he reposted with “Praise God!”

Despite his release, Young Thug is also mandated to conduct four anti-gang and anti-gun presentations or concerts each year in the Atlanta area to discourage gang involvement. Although he must comply with these probationary conditions, he is permitted to travel outside Georgia for work and music production, allowing him to continue his career within the guidelines set by the court.

He is barred from promoting any gang-related material and must refrain from interacting with gang members or co-defendants, except for his brother and Gunna. He is also restricted from entering the Atlanta Metro area for the next ten years. However,h he can return for family events like weddings, funerals, graduations, or in cases of serious illness.
