Thunderbolts* final runtime has just been revealed, courtesy of The Hollywood Handle and MCU - The Direct. There had already been rumors of the runtime roughly around the two-hour mark, and the latest report offers another insight. With a 2-hour and 6-minute runtime, Thunderbolts* is just barely ahead of the shortest films of the Marvel franchise.

Sources say that the shortest MCU film until now has been Brie Larson's Captain Marvel, which ran for about 1 Hour and 45 Minutes. Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, and the two Thor films are only a few minutes longer than it. However, the one common thing about these Marvel films is that they all run shorter than 2 hours.

While casual viewers may not care about these factors, Marvel fans are often concerned about these details. So, every bit of new information offers them more things to speculate upon. With its barely-above-shortest runtime, Thunderbolts* becomes their latest point of discussion.

It has gotten them excited for several reasons; whether that's the asterisk in the end or the powerful Sentry's reveal in the film, they have been keenly paying attention to every available detail. The newly reported deadline has led to some passionate reactions as well.

Thunderbolts* reported runtime is 2 hours and 6 minutes

After reports surfaced online, MCU fans have been discussing what it means for the studio's upcoming tentpole. On a Reddit thread, they have revealed what they feel about this latest update.

One user mentioned why a runtime longer than 2 hours is important for a Marvel film:

"At least it’s over 2 hours. Marvel has an under 2-hour curse."

A response doubled down on this opinion by saying:

"Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has a runtime of 126 minutes (B+ CinemaScore). Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has a runtime of 124 minutes (B CinemaScore)."

Another user thought the current runtime for Thunderbolts* is perfect for it.

"God bless it's not the generic run of 1h 50m they've been on recently. Feel like right around that 2h 20m ballpark is perfect, specifically for a team-up movie like this, so this is decent."

Then, another user shared a cautiously optimistic note with a detailed analysis.

"That’s not great but we’ll see. Of Marvel’s post-pandemic movies, only one has gotten great audience reception being under 2:10 - Deadpool. Otherwise their more well-received fare runs longer: NWH, Wakanda Forever, Guardians, Shang-Chi. Whereas Quantumania, Marvels, Doctor Strange 2, Thor 4, and Cap 4 got worse reception around the 2-hour flat mark. F4 should be 2:20+ with all the story it’s supposed to tell and set up for Doomsday."

Thunderbolts* has been scheduled to be released on May 2, 2025, in the US theaters.
