Ricky Martin, also known as the King of Latin Pop, has come out in support of Kamala Harris on his Instagram stories after Tony Hinchcliffe's comments about the Latino and Puerto Rican communities.

In a Donald Trump rally on Sunday, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, one of the speakers, directed comments at Puerto Rican communities. Hinchcliffe made remarks regarding Latinos, suggesting they are especially eager to have children, which implied a lack of family planning, and he drew a comparison to the experiences of immigrants coming to the U.S.

He also referred to Puerto Rico as a 'floating island of garbage' which has revoked the ire of many Puerto Ricans across the world.

How did Ricky Martin respond?

Ricky Martin has responded to Tony Hinchcliffe's comments by openly supporting Kamala Harris and reposting her posts as stories on his official Instagram account.

One post of Harris that Ricky Martin re-posted said:

"I have long been committed to Puerto Rico and the Puerto Rican people. Together, let’s build a better future for both."

Another video that Ricky Martin shared shows Kamala Harris voicing her unequivocal support for Puerto Ricans. The caption read:

"Throughout my career, I’ve always fought for the people of Puerto Rico. Every chance he got, Donald Trump abandoned and insulted them. As president, I will invest in Puerto Rico's future so that Puerto Ricans can not just get by, but get ahead."

In one of his stories, he wrote a phrase in Spanish:

"Esto es lo que piensan de nosotros" which translates to "This is what they think of us"

In the same story, he also urged his fans to vote for Kamala Harris by tagging her Instagram account.

In another story, he mentioned that he had been trying to share Tony Hinchcliffe's video as a post on his Instagram but it wasn't showing on his feed. He said:

"They (likely Instagram) are shadow banning this post. It is not coming out in my feed"

Ricky Martin, who has more than 18 million followers on his Instagram is not the only Puerto Rican celebrity who is clearly agitated by Tony Hinchcliffe's comments. Bad Bunny has also come out in support of Kamala Harris by reposting her post on his stories, much like Martin.

Fans have come out in support of Ricky Martin by thanking him for condemning Tony Hinchcliffe's remarks on his social media. A fan wrote on X:

"Thank you, Ricky!!!!!!!!!"

Puerto Rican voters play a vital role for both Trump and Harris, with Trump recently making strides to connect with this community. In Pennsylvania, an important swing state, a significant portion of the 580,000 eligible Latino voters identify as Puerto Rican.

With major Puerto Rican celebrities like Ricky Martin and Bad Bunny coming in support of Kamala Harris after Tony Hinchcliffe's comments at Trump's rally, this could spell trouble for Donald Trump and his campaign.
