Maggie Kang, one of the directors of KPop Demon Hunters, recently spoke to Screen Rant where she spoke about a potential sequel. She said,

"Always. There are always side stories, and there are things we've thought of while making this one. There are a lot of questions that are answered but not fully. I think there are a lot of pockets that we can explore."

Given the fact that the first film was based on Korea's mythology, the makers have many stories that they can get inspired by and make a sequel. The film's positive critical response might get Netflix to commission its second installment.

KPop Demon Hunters is about a girl K-pop group called Huntr/x who are also the hunters of demons during the night. They get competition from an all-boys band named Saja Boys, who are actual demons. As per IMDb, its synopsis reads:

"A world-renowned K-Pop girl group balance their lives in the spotlight with their secret identities as demon hunters."

Its voice cast includes,

  • Arden Cho as Rumi
  • Ahn Hyo-seop as Jinu
  • May Hong as Mira
  • Ji-young Yoo as Zoey
  • Yunjin Kim as Celine

In a Forbes interview, Kang was asked if the characters were based on real-life K-Pop stars or not. In response, she said:

“I think what I like to talk about is that there are so many certain archetypes that every group has. It’s fun to see this conversation happening because everyone’s picking the right member who fills that archetype and that kind of role and looks for each group.”

Are you excited for a sequel? The film is streaming on Netflix.
