68-year-old television journalist Katie Couric slammed Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos by calling their 27 June wedding in Italy, "tacky."

Posts from the fauxmoi community on Reddit

Couric commented on a post by Jack Schlossberg, a writer, and nephew of John F. Kennedy Jr. and the daughter of Caroline Kennedy. In the post, Schlossberg seemingly poked fun at Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, with a reposted cover of Vogue, which featured the 55-year-old journalist in her white lace wedding gown. In the caption, Schlossberg said,

"Like I said...Vogue. Here comes the bride."

Couric took to the comment section and said,

"Welcome to the eighties - when big hair and conspicous consumption ruled. Apparently tacky is back."

Schlossberg, while replying to Katie's comment, said,

"Let's bring back scrunchies."

Bezos and Sanchez's Venice wedding has reportedly raised eyebrows among journalists for its $20 million wedding party and guest list of wealthy A-listers.

Journalist Katie Couric and Jack Schlossberg are not the only ones finding fault with Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos' wedding. As per a report published by The Wrap on June 27, 2025, media personality and political commentator Megyn Kelly said Jeff Bezos looked like a "walking p*nis" on his wedding day.

Megyn Kelly, in a video posted to YouTube, alongside Daily Mail columnist Maureen Callahan, dissected Bezos and Sanchez's wedding, with Kelly saying,

"He does look like a walking p*nis. I venture to say some other things have happened there to make him look like that, but you're right. He does look a little too taut and it does give p*nis vibes. I'm not gonna lie, it's not a good look for him."

Kelly also claimed that she's 100 percent sure that the couple called the paparazzi, and orchestrated events of the wedding, including being sighted on a yacht, and a foam party for a "real middle-finger-with-the-money-splayed-out, Marie Antoinette moment."

While Bezos and Sanchez were celebrating their wedding in Venice, Italy, some locals took to the streets to protest with anti-Bezos banners on iconic Venetian sites. On June 24, the protesters were joined by Greenpeace and the British group Everyone Hates Elon. A video went viral of a Jeff Bezos dummy being pushed into a canal by protesters who organized the rallies under the banner, "No Space for Bezos."

The dummy featured the billionaire clutching a large Amazon box while holding fistfuls of fake dollars, and was dressed in a blue Amazon worker's jumpsuit.
