Snow White is a film that has people talking for various reasons. This musical fantasy film from Walt Disney was released on March 21, 2025, amid several controversies. It met with mostly mixed critical response, mainly due to its screenplay and deviation from the source material.

Here's the official synopsis:

"A princess joins forces with seven dwarfs to liberate her kingdom from her cruel stepmother the Evil Queen."

The film has also underperformed at the box office and could face stiff competition at the ticket window from Jason Statham starrer action film A Working Man.

Disney's musical fantasy is currently in its second weekend run in the theaters. Deadline predicts that it is expected to do well, but the box-office prospects might get hampered by Jason Statham's actioner A Working Man, which was released on March 28, 2025. While Snow White is booked at around 4,200 locations, the action thriller has 3,262 sites in total.

The weekend projection of A Working Man is around $13.5 million. While Snow White has been marred with controversies, a report has also projected that it will see a dip of 53% or more during the second weekend. It had opened to $42.2 million at the ticket window.

Earlier, the son of Snow White's producer Marc Platt, Jonah Platt, defended his father after a bombshell Variety article reported that Platt flew to New York to convince the film's lead actress, Rachel Zegler, to remove her 'free palestine' tweet. This came amid criticism from people for Disney's attempt to control Zegler's social media.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Jonah wrote:

"You really want to do this? Yeah, my dad, the producer of enormous piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to fly across the country to reprimand his 20 year old employee for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicity for.”

Earlier, Zegler had stirred the headlines after she called out the original 1937 film. Later, Peter Dinklage also criticized the film for its portrayal of dwarfs.

Another wave of controversy came during the 2025 US presidential elections when Zegler targeted Donald Trump and his supporters in her tweet, as per Hindustan Times. Reportedly, Disney hired a social media person for her afterward.

The film is playing in theaters.
