Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds is allegedly re-enacting his iconic role for some mysterious new project.
Reynolds gave fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse on his Instagram story of himself clad in the full Deadpool suit, minus the mask.
He shared the selfie with a cryptic message:
"That was fun today."
Fans are excited over this post, especially because there is a photo of Leslie Uggams in the frame, who plays the character of Blind Al in the Deadpool series. It is unclear if this is a holiday special or if it's a part of the full production. Regardless, with this Christmas-themed background, this project is much more interesting than an actual Deadpool 4.
Reynolds really has a knack for exceeding all expectations when it comes to his Deadpool film projects thus far, so this final post keeps fans guessing as to what is going on.
Is it a Deadpool Christmas Special or something else?
Could this be a Deadpool Christmas Special? Fans are speculating that the festive decorations seen in Reynolds' post might hold clues to him going back into holiday-themed content with Deadpool.
Deadpool fans will remember the earlier attempt he made on Christmas with the 2018 re-cut, Once Upon a Deadpool, a subdued, PG-13 version of his R-rated film.
Although that special didn't exactly fly with the critics, taking in only 61% on Rotten Tomatoes, it seems Reynolds is once again getting ready to dip his toes into the holiday tundra for another project. That being said, it is also possible that the mystery project of Reynolds may be something else altogether, like an advertisement or a promotional video.
You never know exactly what he has in store because, being known for breaking the fourth wall and shocking audiences sometimes, he might do the same for whatever project this is supposed to be for.
Other speculations include that it is part of a new promo for a Deadpool movie or some other Marvel-related release, given that a new Deadpool film is reportedly in the works.
While this kind of background for the holiday might set the stage for something amazing, until more information leaks out, fans will just have to speculate about what Reynolds might have in the works.
A potential tie-in to Deadpool 4?
Now, this latest teaser may also suggest further content being filmed for a much-awaited Deadpool 4. Until then, nothing has been confirmed, but the appearance of Leslie Uggams makes it seem likely that the characters of the previous Deadpool movies will be returning.
Uggams proved to be a huge audience favorite, with her character Blind Al; her casting alongside Reynolds has generated so much more interest in what is lined up for the much-loved superhero.
For now, Reynolds keeps the fans guessing, dishing out just enough information to get everyone excited, but being cautious not to say too much. This project can be part of a larger marketing plan, or it's just how Reynolds playfully reaches out to his fans.
