Rapper Wale also known as Ralph Folarin decided to show some love to fellow rapper Future, taking to X to tell the world the same. On September 30, 2024, the rapper announced that he thinks the Atlanta-based rap titan is in the top ten in the world of Hip-hop.
The rapper's praises come on the heels of Future's latest project, Mixtape Pluto, which dominated the Billboard 200 this week.
Wale declared on X:
"Future means so much to Hiphop . A top ten . Im not debating that one."
He continued the sentiments in a follow-up post later that day:
"I got some folks fired up today ... I seen.. excuse me for havin a diverse palette ... art is subjective . Im listening to The Beach Boys right now and then Devin the dude . Yall like what yall liked...see yall on the road."
The internet was seemingly divided when it came to sharing Wale's point of view, as many backed the artist up, noting that he was correct, while others claimed there were better rappers in the industry.
"He’s right. Not everyone will get it though," one user stated.
"He's done a lot in the industry. Some like it and some don't. Whatever thing, nobody can deny the fact that he's big," one user tweeted.
"Future is 100% top 10 of time," another concurred.
"Brother I have him Top 3 and he’s not 2nd or 3rd," yet another admitted.
However, others called on Wale to "stop the cap."
"To hip hop? Trying to figure out which of the 4 elements he’s ever excelled in Don’t break dance Don’t DJ Don’t write graffiti And his “rap” is indecipherable to be considered lyrical..Buddy can sure mumble to a beat though..," one user disagreed.
"He’s not the top 10 seller, doesn’t have the top 10 tour, and no one’s gonna put him as a top 50 lyricist. What is you talkin bout, Wale?" one user laid down.
"He ain’t nowhere in my top ten but i respect it lol i like r&b melodic future way more than rapping future," another chimed in.
"Top 10 of right now? Or All time? Can’t be talking about all time…no way," yet another seemed to think.
Future secures his third #1 album just this year
With his latest release, Mixtape Pluto sitting atop the Billboard 200, it represents the rapper's third album to do so just this year alone. His last album saw him successfully collaborate with Metro Boomin on WE DON'T TRUST YOU and WE STILL DON'T TRUST YOU.
Per Billboard, Mixtape Pluto soared in success, having accumulated 118,500 album-equivalent streaming units. The 17-track album, however, was a solo project for the rapper. It features tracks like PLUTOSKI, LIL DEMON, and TEFLON DON.
