Vice President Kamala Harris sat down for an interview with the Alex Cooper-helmed, Call Her Daddy podcast on Sunday to chime in on Ohio Senator JD Vance's comments about "childless cat ladies."

According to the stepmom-of-two, the comment Vance made in 2021 about women not having a "direct stake" in the country was "mean-spirited." Harris, who is running for office, said during the 40-minute episode:

"I just think it's mean and mean-spirited. And I think that most Americans want leaders who understand that the measure of their strength is not based on who you beat down, the real measure of the strength of a leader is based on who you lift up."

Back in 2021, Vance told Fox News:

"We are effectively run in this country via the Democrats, a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too."

Furthermore, the presidential nominee also touched on contentious issues grappling the nation, like abortion, economic issues, and even personal attacks.

Kamala Harris says she pities those who take shots at her "modern family"

In reflecting on how Vance's comment affected her, Kamala Harris also said on the podcast:

"I think it's really important not to let other people define you. And usually, those people who will attempt to do it don't know you."

In the same vein, Arkansas GOP Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders passed a comment during a town hall meeting with former President Trump, claiming that Kamala Harris was far from humble as she doesn't have children. The stepmom of two shot back, noting that she pitied her:

"I feel sorry for her and I'm going to tell you why because I don't think she understands that there are a whole lot of women out here who one, are not aspiring to be humble, two, a whole lot of women out here, who have a lot of love in their life, family in their life, and children in their life and I think it's very important for women to lift each other up."

She also reflected on her two step-children, Cole and Ella, who call her "Momala," pointing out that they are a "modern family." She continued, noting that she shares a good bond with her husband's ex-wife.

"My husband's ex-wife is a friend of mine and also I'm a child of divorced parents and when I started dating Doug, my husband, I was very thoughtful and sensitive to making sure that until I knew that our relationship was something that was going to be real, I didn't want to form a relationship with the kids and then walk away from that relationship."

Kamala Harris shares her stance on student debt forgiveness and housing affordability

During the episode, Kamala Harris reflected on access to abortion, as she told the host, Alex Cooper:

"There are now 20 states with Trump abortion bans. This is the same guy that said women should be punished for having abortions."

She continued, bringing in the statistics of women in a state with an abortion ban, and pointed out that it would be extremely difficult for them to "go to the airport, stand in a TSA line, sit on a plane next to a perfect stranger, to go to a city where she has never been, to receive the care she needs."

Kamala Harris also stressed the importance of such clinics, given that they do "paps, they do breast cancer screenings, they do HIV testing, and they are having to close in many places with these bans."

Moreover, Kamala Harris reflected on her stance in favor of student debt relief and shared her plans on housing affordability, proposing a "$25,000 down payment assistance for first-time home buyers," as well as "a $6,000 tax cut for the first year of their child's life."
