Pop sensation Kesha has officially altered the lyrics of her 2009 hit TiK ToK, wherein she replaces the original reference to Sean "Diddy" Combs with the updated line, "Wake up in the morning like f*** P. Diddy." The change comes in light of the several s*xual misconduct allegations against the rapper, including s*x trafficking and assault.

Kesha first debuted the change during a Coachella performance with Renée Rapp in April 2024, and she recently took to TikTok to reveal that the change was permanent. She expressed that her decision stems from her wanting to protect her happiness, and she will record the song as soon as no legal barricades prevent her from doing so.

Fans online were thrilled to hear the announcement, with many showering praise and lauding her. "Just in time...," one fan noted.

Several others chimed in, commending the singer for her actions.

"She always was ahead of her time," one user acknowledged.
"she does NOT wanna wake up feeling like Diddy," another joked.
"kesha was so insane for making the crowd scream “wake up in the morning like F*CK P. DIDDY” 3 times at lollapalooza," one user commended.

However, others called out the singer, claiming she likely knew about his alleged misconduct.

"She is definitely part of the Freak Offs," one user theorized.
"She KNEW back then...," another user noted.
"Nah….15 years too late," one user commented.

Kesha explains why she's changing the song and claims she has "changed"

In August, the singer took to X to express the happiness the song brought her, as it was the first single that credited her voice and name.

"TiK ToK was the first single that I put into this world that had my voice AND my name credited!!!! I remember making it fun and happy because that’s how I felt and wanted others to feel. What I’m so proud of is that’s how this song STILL makes me feel, through it all, and those are emotions I want all of us to connect to. 15 (!!!!!!) years later, I see this song as a snapshot into the way I saw the world at the time. That girl was naive and wild and playful."

However, Kesha added that while she loves the old part of her, she has grown, and so has the world.

"This song eternalizes a side of myself that I love very much, and now see I have to protect fiercely. The world has changed so much and so have I. I absolutely love the new lyric change. (Shout out to @reneerapp) Yes it is permanent. I will re-record it when I have legal rights to! Now, my first baby stands for so much. It stands for fiercely protecting my fun and unadulterated joy, in myself and in others. The whole ride has been absolute insanity, but the JOY is still riding. I hope you all can find 3 1/2 minutes of play in this song and connect with your wild child-like joy."

In 2009, Kesha told Esquire the meaning behind her original lyrics, recalling an instance where she woke up at a party "surrounded by ten of the most beautiful women you've ever seen" and felt like she was P. Diddy at that moment.
