Rock band Heart’s lead singer, Ann Wilson, shared a health update regarding her cancer journey via Instagram on September 25, 2024. She mentioned that she had completed her chemotherapy treatments and was doing fine. The health update came almost three months after she announced her cancer diagnosis.
The musician shared in a voice-recorded statement that many people have been curious about her health, so she wanted to talk about it directly. Ann Wilson said:
“I am doing absolutely fine now but it’s been, to put it mildly, a lot. Chemo is no joke. It takes a lot out of a person. And then there’s that two weeks of waiting around for test results, a form of mental torture.”
She added that when the results finally arrived, they were positive. Wilson expressed her excitement about completing chemotherapy and was ready for the 2025 tour. She noted that while there will be ongoing ‘maintenance,’ the side effects are expected to be much less severe, as she was relieved that the worst was behind her.
Ann Wilson also conveyed her immense gratitude for the support she received from fans over the past few months while emphasizing the importance of regular check-ups. The singer acknowledged that the positive outcome of her cancer journey is partly due to early detection. She encouraged everyone to get checked regularly, expressing her love for her fans as she looked forward to celebrating together soon.
Ann Wilson underwent surgery in July 2024
Without specifying the exact type of cancer, the singer announced in July 2024 via Instagram that she had undergone surgery for cancer and called off the remaining shows to undergo preventative chemotherapy.
She and her sister, Nancy Wilson, planned to tour with the band from July through December 2024. The dates have now been moved to 2025. In her July 2024 post, Ann Wilson wrote:
“I recently underwent surgery to remove something that, as it turns out, was cancerous. The operation was successful & and I’m feeling great but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy & I’ve decided to do it.”
Heart last performed a series of North American concerts in April and late May this year. In 2023, the band marked 50 years of its existence. After a three-year hiatus, the band members reunited in 2019 and marked 50 years together in 2023. The band has already announced the dates for the Royal Flush Tour 2025.
The tour will include performances in Las Vegas, Toronto, Mashantucket, Boston, and New York from March to April 2025. Presale for the concerts began on September 25, 2024, while general sales will start on September 27, 2024, at 10 AM at heart-music.com, as per Ann Wilson’s Instagram post.
Ann Wilson has been a key member of Heart since joining the band alongside her sister Nancy in the mid-1970s. The American-Canadian group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013 and released its debut album in 1975, which reached the US Top 10.
