As Donald Trump ramps up public appearances with the 2024 Presidential election looming near, the Republican candidate briefly posed as a fry cook at a McDonald's outlet in Pennsylvania on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Trump, who has raised doubts about Democratic candidate Kamala Harris’ experience working at the fast food restaurant, took a jab at the vice president, quipping that he "worked 15 minutes more than Kamala."

As the video went viral online several social media users accused the president of staging his stint ‘working’ for the fast food company. A social media user posted a note put up by Derek Giacomantonio, the unit's manager apologising to customers for closing the outlet on Sunday to accommodate Trump's campaign.

“We plan to be closed on Sunday, October 20 until 4 p.m., to accommodate a visit at the request of former President Trump and his campaign,” the note said.

The note concluded by saying:

“I apologize for the inconvenience of closing our restaurant and sincerely look forward to serving you very soon.”

As the note emerged online, numerous social media users slammed the pictures that captured Trump talking to the staff and asserted they were staged actors or Secret Service personnel. A social media user said:

“It was all staged”

In a post on X Donald Trump shared he's the first and only 2024 presidential nominee to work at McDonald's. Trump also posted a picture with a group wearing McDonald’s uniform. However, a social media user alleged Trump “staged” the photo op. The netizen said:

“I couldn't get my McDonald's today because he staged a photo op at my local McDonald's.”

However, several social media users defended the political gimmick asserting it’s the norm to close down a venue during a high-profile visit for security reasons. A social media user said:

“Of course, it wasn’t a normal day. You think they are going to let a President who’s had more than one assassination attempt on his life just to stand at a window with random cars driving through?"

Donald Trump accuses Kamala Harris of lying about working at McDonald's

Donald Trump has a history of challenging Kamala Harris’ short stint working for McDonald’s during summer break while she was a student at Howard University. When asked about Trump’s intent behind visiting McDonald's in Pennsylvania, his campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung told Forbes:

“The people of Pennsylvania matter and jobs matter, something Kamala Harris refuses to acknowledge.”

Senior Harris campaign adviser Ian slammed Trump's McDonald's event saying:

"When Trump feels desperate, all he knows how to do is lie. He can’t understand what it’s like to have a summer job because he was handed millions on a silver platter, only to blow it.”

According to ABC News, Donald Trump also accused Kamala Harris of lying about her job applications to a reporter who asked the former president to respond to the sentiment that Harris was a more unifying candidate.
