Lamar Odom, whose substance abuse issues led to a near-death experience, weighed in on Liam Payne’s toxicology report. As previously reported, the One Direction star tragically fell to his death from a hotel balcony in Argentina on October 16, 2024. An initial toxicology report handed to local prosecutors on Monday, October 21, 2024, revealed Payne had cocaine, among other drugs, in his system.

ABC News reported that “pink cocaine” found in Payne’s system contained methamphetamine, ketamine, and MDMA. The other drugs whose traces were found in Liam's body include benzodiazepine and crack cocaine. Odom told TMZ the cocktail of drugs could have potentially made the late singer hallucinate before his death. MDMA is a hallucinogen, and ketamine has some hallucinogenic effects.

It should be noted that the former NBA player and recovering drug addict, who admitted to having ingested almost every drug available in the street, did not confirm hallucinations were a contributing factor in Payne’s death. However, Odom touched on his experience with multiple drugs, saying:

"Drugs can cause you to hallucinate and if he was in a hallucination state, then who knows what happened.”

When asked if hallucinations from the substance could have contributed to Liam Payne’s death, Odom said:

“I mean, to death? I don’t know.” He added, “Well, I mean, if you’re hearing voices, then it’s hard to escape those voices, so God forbid if those voices told him to do something that led to his fate. That’d be a shame.”

Odom also admitted to experiencing paranoia and hearing “voices” while using drugs, including crack and cocaine.

What was Liam Payne's cause of death?

Pink Cocaine, a designer drug, is described as a powdery mix of ketamine, methamphetamine, and ecstasy. It can also be laced with hallucinogens such as Mescaline and LSD (via Simcoe Rehab).

An initial toxicology report handed to local prosecutors on Monday revealed Liam Payne had cocaine in his system. Officials cited in Business Standard warned initial results are not an accurate reading of how much cocaine was in his system when he died. The final toxicology results are expected to be made public next month.

Associated Press reported Argentinian investigators found narcotics and alcohol strewn Payne’s hotel room after his death. Last week, photos published by local media, purportedly taken from inside Payne’s hotel, showed alleged drugs on the table. The room’s television also showed signs of damage.

Public prosecution alleged Liam Payne might have suffered a substance abuse-induced breakdown before his fall (via Guardian). Shortly before Payne’s death, the hotel manager called law enforcement to report a guest's aggressive behavior under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Last year, Liam Payne, who was transparent about his addiction in the years leading up to his death, announced that he was 100 days sober.
