The Sex and The City star, Sarah Jessica Parker, has revealed that she will not be attending the world's most glamorous and prestigious fashion event, the Met Gala, this year. The news came as a shock to her fans, as she has been attending the iconic event for decades.

Parker, who is widely popular for her role as Carrie Bradshaw in the 1998 drama series Sex and the City, made her Met Gala debut back in 1995. The Hocus Pocus star has turned quite a few heads at the glamorous fashion event since she started attending it. She wore a black gown the first time she walked the red carpet at the Gala.

Interestingly, not many people are aware of this, but the black gown she wore 30 years ago as she made her debut at the Met Gala was, in reality, bought from a thrift store. However, following that, she has so far attended the world-famous event ten times.

Opening up to Entertainment Tonight regarding why she won't be able to attend the 2025 Met Gala, which is happening on May 5, the 60-year-old actress said:

"I have to work... but there's gonna be so much to see and I look forward to seeing what everybody does. And I can't wait to see how they interpret the theme and the sort of homework they did for the assignment."

The senior actress continued and said:

"I care a lot about it and I want to try to really honour the work of the curators and everybody who sort of inspired the moment for those of us who get to attend."

The Here and Now star, who has been married to actor Matthew Broderick since 1997, shares a son, James, who is 22, and twins, Marion and Tabitha, who are 15, with him. According to certain reports, Sarah and Matthew met each other for the first time in 1991, in New York City. She came across him through her brothers, Pippin and Tobey, who ran the Naked Angels Theater Company, where Broderick was directing a play.

However, while speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the Failure to Launch actress talked about her children, revealing whether or not they seek fashion advice from their star mother. Parker shared:

"They don't...they come to me as a parent to the degree that any 15 year old, almost 16 year old, comes to a parent. But it isn't anything to do with any relationship that I have with fashion. It's a rather routine question that a child may ask a parent for advice."

She went ahead and continued:

"I don't think they are uniquely because I may have spent some time in a pretty dress. They want the advice, they don't want advice, I'm just there. Sometimes it's nice to be able to say 'Yes, borrow this bag...' But any time a parent asks for help or advice, I like it very much."

Sarah further added:

"I really love that they still come to us and they want our thoughts and feelings. They are great kids."
