Zoe Saldana, who joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy as Gamora, reveals that she wishes to go back and "reshoot" her character in the Avengers movies.

While playing "Know Their Lines" with Variety's Tiana DeNicola, Zoe Saldana mentioned that she regrets not understanding her character, Gamora, and where she stood in the MCU while filming,

"I wish I could go back and reshoot what Gamora was going through in the Avengers movies."

Zaldana revealed that she didn't quite understand what the directors, Anthony Russo and Joseph Russo, collectively known as the Russo Brothers, were doing, although she's grateful for them giving her an opportunity "of a lifetime."

She went on to add saying,

"I wish I could go back and redo it, so I could push a little harder because it was such a great opportunity to play a daughter having issues with a dad and whether or not she is having this opportunity to reconciliate or to simply just walk way. That would've been a great opportunity had I been a little more aware of it then."

Zoe Saldana wants a brown girl to play Gamora

In a recent Variety cover story, Zoe Saldana revealed that although she's grateful for playing Gamora in the MCU movies, she wants a "brown girl" to play Gamora after 2023's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

"Give that opportunity to a woman of color and see what the new Gamora is going to bring to the table."

Her character, Gamora, is the adoptive daughter of the villain Thanos. She is known as the "deadliest woman in the galaxy" for her strong combat skills. In Infinity War, Gamora is killed by the Big Bad and Thanos in an attempt to obtain the Soul Stone.

While Zaldana noted that Gamora is "gone for good" for her, she isn't gone for good for MCU, and it'd be a "huge loss" for Marvel if they didn't find a way to bring her back to the Guardians of the Galaxy after her death.

Saldana will play Rita Mora Castro in Emilia Perez, which will be released in November 2024 alongside Selena Gomez and others. The actress has also signed up for two Avatar sequels: Season 2 of Lioness, which will debut on October 27, and a long-in-development fourth movie of Star Trek.
