Football coach Deion Sanders addressed the press on October 5, after the Colorado Buffaloes lost to the TCU Horned Frogs. It seems like someone from the media asked about his health issue, to which Sanders replied:

“I think I got more blood clots. Cat's out the bag. All right. I think I got more blood clots. Man, it don't make sense. I'm hurting like crazy. I got the doctor's appointment Monday to see what time it is. So, that's what's going on. I'm not getting blood to my leg. That's why my leg is throbbing.”

According to USA Today, Sanders faced blood circulation issues previously, due to which two of his toes had to be amputated in 2021. Two years later, he had to undergo medical procedures to remove clots from his legs. He also had his bladder removed earlier this year, as there was a carcinogenic tumor.

Earlier in July, Deion Sanders discussed his bladder cancer. According to ABC News, speaking to the press, he said:

“I'm always positive, man. I would get upset when my body don't allow me to do the things that I' want to.”

Deion Sanders shares why he chose surgery

Michael Strahan recently interviewed the football coach on GMA. During the conversation, Sanders said he was doing well and was able to help others through his bladder cancer journey. When asked if there were any symptoms, he said:

“We don't want to go to the doctor and we like why man got to go to the doctor. You so you got to go get your normal scan and they said hold on we need to we need to do another little check on you. For what? I'm straight.”

After the cancer diagnosis came through, he was given treatment options like chemotherapy for 36 weeks or the removal of his bladder. He said the surgery was to get it all out. When asked why he chose surgery, Deion Sanders replied:

“I prayed on it and I'm aggressive, man. I ain't waiting. I ain't sitting back on the curb waiting, just slowly but surely you do whatever is gonna happen? No, let's go right now. Let's go get this thing.”

Deion Sanders reflects on relying on adult diapers

When asked about his recovery, Deion Sanders said it was painful. He remembered being told to try to use the bathroom, but it hurt so much that he screamed while lying on the floor. The pain was so bad that after getting up, he curled up on the bed, unable to believe how much it hurt. Strahan asked if he regretted the decision, to which Sanders replied:

“No, because that was the first process. That wasn't the big surgery. That was the first process. Then the second surgery. Oh, no. It was it seemed like they took everything they took everything out.”

Strahan asked how the surgery had affected his daily life. Deion Sanders said it didn’t stop him from doing much, but using the bathroom had become difficult. He had to push hard with his stomach muscles to pee, and it still didn’t feel normal. He also said that some nights were tough because he had to change his adult diapers twice.
